it absolutely doesn't

but the bootlickers on this forum will tell you that those officers (who would struggle fulfilling orders at Jack in the Box) deserve the same respect as a Medal of Honor recipient.

I’m driving next to a guy today who was going 75 in a 70. We pass 2 police cruisers and continue going for about 3 miles when one of those cruisers comes flying up at what looked like 95mph out of nowhere and pulls that guy over.

The police cruiser caught him within 2 minutes and he was going 75. Pulled him over and began the citation process. How does a police cruiser driving to for 3-4 miles at 90+ mph (to catch him) How is that making the roads safer?

I see this happen frequently on my work commute. I'm tempted to do an abrupt lane change and let one of those cock suckers rear end me lol

What I’m wondering is how stupid do you have to be to pass a cop while going 75 when the speed limit is 70? He deserves a ticket for being a dumbass.
Wut. You basically never get pulled over for only going 5 over

Speeding ticket fines = money to improve roads.

No that would be part of your gasoline tax. Not one penny of a speeding ticket goes towards road improvements.

Let's pretend for a second that cops stopped checking for speeder on the Interstates. Can you imagine the high speed carnage that would follow?

Yes, most local cops on Interstates are there for money but the fear of getting a ticket is what keeps most drivers under 80.

You’re not thinking, man.

Speeding saves so much gas that it costs the state tax revenue for roads.

I thought everyone knew this. Bless the police.

Your question was dead before it started in that you assume the purpose of speeding tickets is to make highways safer, it isn't. The purpose is to create revenue for the city, state, or parish. "To collect and serve"

It’s not about justice, it’s about revenue.

You passed a cop. You’re an idiot. Less people like you making decisions makes us all safer.

Damn bruh, you stop in the middle of the interstate every time you see a cop on the side of the road? That's not good driving.

They have in Baton Rouge and all these baws drive 100 going to the plant. Then everyone on this board bitches about traffic when said baw clips a semi shutting down the Interstate. The OT is a vicious cycle.

Personally, I would have speed cameras every half-mile on the Interstate and suspend licenses after the third one. Get caught driving without a license and you get tossed off the New Bridge live on WAFB.

I think they usually only go after cars doing 10mph over.

Did a ride along with an officer buddy because I was interested in becoming an officer. I told him I didn’t think I’d like shooting radar so naturally, he decided to go shoot radar. He asked what speed I wanted to start pulling people over at and I said 80? And he kinda laughed and said let’s do 100. I told him I didn’t want to sit around for an hour and he assured me it would be less than 5 min. Sure enough, less than a minute and we found a dude going 102. That guy pulled over.

Second time around, guy going 105 in a challenger stepped it up to over 135 mph and lost us. I know 135 because that’s how fast we were going trying to catch him and we were just not losing any distance in him at that speed. There is NOTHING safe about that speed. But the adrenaline was awesome. Haha.

And then the kicker to your scenario is that once he has the driver pulled over with his lights on, everybody coming up on that will practically lock their brakes up from going 75+ to 55-60. Because, OH MY GOD! I NEED TO BE SAFE. And then, you risk getting slammed into from behind (causing a ten car pile up) because you lock your brakes up.

We actually had a guy up here this week that got a judge to rule that our speed limit laws are unconstitutional. We have an out, at least for a little while.

quote:

In her ruling, Kaelin says she searched the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s website and did other general internet searches and could not find any place where any such orders are accessible.

If a judge can’t find those, she wrote, “how could a citizen without access to legal knowledge and research ascertain the same?”

She used this example: A driver charged with going 65 miles per hour on I-64 near Hurstbourne Parkway in eastern Jefferson County would be 10 miles per hour over the posted limit. But that person could argue he was relying on a strict interpretation of state law. And if there are no “official orders” from the Transportation Cabinet, “65 MPH would not be in violation of the statute because the statute does not refer to posted limits, but rather to ‘official orders,’” the judge wrote.

In essence, she concluded, when a person is cited for speeding, he or she is not charged with violating the law, not a speed limit sign.

“And in many cases,” she wrote, “the statute and the sign are in conflict.”

It's gonna feel that way once you have a wrecked car and the person behind you wants to sue.

Let me get this right. You're driving 70 mph and continue down the road at 70mph while a guy slowly pulls over, exits to the shoulder, comes to a complete stop, cop takes some time to exit his car, WALK towards the vehicle, you're miles away by now and can see him "beginning the citation process."

I call BS on your story.
