What happens if I get stopped??? We paid for a duplicate registration certificate "assuming" (yes I know) that the sticker would come with it; certificate was $12.

NOW I have to GO IN to the dmv to pay $38.25 for a flipping sticker.

SO if I get stopped and have up to date registration in my vehicle but expired sticker, what happens? In all honesty IDK that we ever got the initial renewal cert and sticker as I'm pretty fanatic about not being expired.

They'll probably just tell you that you need to go get the sticker.

LEO will know your reg is up to date, but still sodomize you for not having the sticker.

Thanks. I didn't see -- maybe I missed it -- any indication that another sticker would NOT be included with the cert.

Doubtful you'll get ticket if your registration is up to date. LEO will know its up to date as well.

Meh, hes just as likely to get a ticket "and let the courts sort it out".

I wouldnt expect too much understanding or on the ground sleuthing to preclude a ticket here.

Yeah, keep thinking that cop isn't writing that ticket. You have to have registration and properly display it. Not having registration and not properly displaying it are two separate things and two separate tickets.

It's like getting stopped without a driver's license on you or pulled over without proof of insurance. The cop can look up whether or not you have a valid driver's license or insurance on the computer in the squad car just as easily as they can pull the vehicle registration. The fact that you have acquired those things as the law requires doesn't excuse you from having to also properly carry or display proof of them to legally operate the vehicle. The law can still HAMMER you for not doing that.

Are you black or white? Very important to the outcome of what the cops will do...

I can't speak to Louisiana, obviously, but that's what I've heard to be the case in Alabama, assuming you can produce proof of a valid, up-to-date registration.

More likely that they will write you a ticket for not having it and tell you it will be dropped if you show up to the courthouse with the sticker.

Yep. Got pulled over once, didn’t have my new insurance card with me and the cop looked it up and said just because I had it didn’t excuse me not having proof. He wasn’t a total dick about it, but he did write me a seat belt ticket.

I got a ticket for this. A couple days after the sticker expired. I had just forgot to put the new sticker on.

These two statements contradict each other.
