I love LEO towing vehicles they know are up to date on insurance but the driver can't show a piece of paper. So we are supposed to believe that police can look you up in the system, get your past criminal history, address, next of kin, birth date, outstanding warrants, check the DMV for suspended/expired license or registration.... But they can't see if your insurance is up to date? :yeah ok:

I promise there will be some that had zero knowledge of that app.
I'd bet the same is applicable to an insurance app.

I was specifically referring to those devices some of the police (JP has a few) have in their cars that will scan every car they pass by, including parking lots, and can tell them if they have a potential stolen vehicle nearby. Can those same devices be used to fins potential uninsured vehicles.

JackieSonnier, you are 100% in the wrong. Everyone knows you need to have proof of insurance (phone or physical card) when you drive. Stop living your life like a fricking child. I am pleased your car was towed.
The cops cut too many people too much slack and we get uninsured drivers screwing around and causing all of our rates to go up.

Sometimes this theory works. In high crime areas, writing tickets for smaller crimes can sometimes help modify behaviour. But if you're just looking to bust someone's balls for no good reason, that sucks.
Also fair chance the cop gets $50 from the tow lot every car he tows. Tow operations are dirty AF.

naw screw this......it's one thing if the physical piece of paper was the only way to determine if he has insurance, but it's not. The driver appeared to have insurance, which is the point, and the cop knew it. didn't have to tow b/c he forgot to print a physical piece of paper.

Are you saying you've had a cop give you shite for identifying yourself with the LA Wallet app?
I prefer the electronic method of providing info, I had a girl rear end me several years ago and she showed the police a valid insurance card. Problem was, it was one of those fly-by-night companies and they canceled her insurance in the middle of the term, for non-payment. So my carrier tried to recover, with no luck. She just disappeared like a fart in the wind, and my UM coverage ate the bill.

Can we admit this is just a fundraising racket for all involved instead of time well spent by police? There's other ways to verify someone has insurance than a piece of paper.

Did you mouth off to the cops? Are you flagged? I've never heard of a car being towed because the insurance card expired. If you don't have insurance, they might take your plate and give you a sticker of some sort.

But most responsible people that I know carry a copy in their glove box with their registration. But that's in Tennessee. And yes, it's on my app, but also in my car. And wallet.

There are also other way to verify if your Drivers license is valid... yet you still have to carry that around with you (unless you are one of the handful of states that lets you put them in your Apple Wallet)...

It seems he is saying LE knew he had current insurance but still towed. If true, not sure why anybody would agree with towing.

They will usually just give you a ticket.
