Its a good school with excellent teachers, there is something for everyone , not just football and basketball, descent demographic representation if that matters at all, been there 12 years with 2...that being said I also believe the school for performing arts on Acadian and mckinley middle and Baton Rouge high are also an excellent route and you will drive a nicer car.

BS, I'm nobody from Shreveport, and my kids best friends are transplants from other parts of the country....there are 100 spots and 400 applicants, do the math.

if you have done your research you would know you live in the best school district in the state for Free assuming of course you live in Zachary , Zachary is #1 and has been for some time.

Thanks for the serious replys, and the comedy as well. As said before, have a very good family connection to hopefully help out.

Zachary schools are on the decline and I want out while young. They are great as a district, but they have 1 school. Compare them to other top performing public schools and they do not stack up well. Other parishes have some lower performing schools that bring the district down as a whole.

We had The Chancellors wife at the time sign off on our application. Still couldn't get in. Luck plays a big part. If you can get your kindergartener in then your 2nd grader will eventually get in because she gets moved to the front of the waiting list.

We left Zachary for the same reasons. We felt the test scores were being fudged in some way.

Great school, expensive, and requires serious connections to get in.

I know of people who have been donating since they got married and still haven't even started trying to have children. If I still lived in BR, that would be my plan of action.

You know there's other good schools besides catholic high.

Or are you one of those "catholic high is the only good school in BR" Person?

Westdale Heights Academic Magnet is really good. Then Sherwood Middle Magnet, then BRMHS. This Magnet path worked for me, although it's probably the most homework-intensive route, based on comparing notes. A silly amount of homework starting at the Middle School level.

Just know that BRMHS kicks a lot of kids arse just on the workload alone. But it's cool because your kid will have really cool, smart friends from all over the Parish.

The Lab School is a good school. Inclusive, of course-if that's your thing. Reasonably priced.

Parkview Baptist was cool too, a great environment for the little ones, really great caring people, but not very challenging academically. I should probably send my son back there...
