We spend around 10k a year on sports and activities for my son.

Worth it.

He is only a kid once in his life and we enjoy letting him have fun.

Wouldn't trade those memories for anything.

I spend $40 for YMCA baseball and $30 for BRSC soccer, and my kid plays until he damn near falls out.

Travel ball is what it is. Kids pretty much have to play it if they want to play baseball/softball these days at a semi competitive level. The kids aren’t the problem for sure though. The looney flat bill, Oakley, turf shoe wearing dads are the problem.

How much wife swapping is going on back at the hotels after the games?

Too many to count. The funniest thing was the dads decked out in under armour and Oakley and taking it WAY too seriously.

Talk about taking it seriously...

I coach tee ball as my boys are little ...

One dad/coach was so serious I told him "Your playing days are over, it's their turn"..

He got so mad he gave me a good ole frick you on the tee ball field..

Tee Ball!! It was so damn funny I couldn't contain myself. I thought he was going to take a swing at me.

You’re getting downvoted, but as a 30 year old only child, it’s some of my favorite memories growing up, and my parents enjoyed it too.. traveling to tournaments and weekday games even

I always talk about how I’d give anything to go back to being 12-13 and just playing ball all summer with my friends .

Name of your son?

You're either a pedophile or a travel dad.

You don't just "experience" trave ball, baw.

Im out there for 12 hours a day on weekends. Between games, we just sit in a lawn chair and stare at each other. For hours.

I don’t have kids yet, I went and watched my nephew play. I’m glad I went bc I got to watch him but I cannot imagine doing this every weekend. I was there for an hour and half and that alone was too much for me.

My dad would drink beer in the stands when he "had" to go.

There were two dads that stood behind the outfield fence out of the mayhem going on in the stands. They did it right. If my kids ever take this up in future I strive to be that dad. No way in hell am I coaching.

Lol. My brother’s kid was playing in a tournament near where I live. I haven’t gotten to see him play in a long time and stopped by.

Always use stomach pain/gas/diarrhea as your excuse. Works every time.

I usually dont make up excuses, but I was extremely late for work one time and said I pooped myself and had to run back home and change. Worked like a charm.

Make sure you check your kid’s temperature for the next game. Actually, go around and check every kid. Whichever kids have a temp higher than 98.6, tar and feather their parents. I learned the hard way.

On a 6 hr bus ride from Shreveport back to NOLA as I type this; for one league soccer game for my son's U17 club team. Parents rented a plush bus. I made sure to sit near the dad who I knew would have a bottle of Jack, so I am good. This child is my caboose and only has a couple years left for me to see him play, so yea it's worth it.

I don't care. We made mini vacations out of the trips and loved traveling around the country.

My oldest son just passed away and all those trips made for great memories.

Some of my youngest son's favorite memories of him and his brother were from those trips.

I went to Chicago a couple summer's ago and went to my Cousin once removed's HS baseball game in May. It was like 35 degrees with 2- mph winds and he was a damn JV relief pitcher. SMH. Good ole family support. I actually feel bad for him because I was fine being there but he felt bad not playing while we were in town.

Enjoy it. Time goes fast and when they are grown and gone, you will miss those moments.

Stereotypes exist for a reason and travel ball is a perfect example.

It is really funny to watch.

We have 2 kids who are 7 years difference in age.
Learned the "do and don'ts) the 1st go around....like dont sit in the stands with other parents. Some real whiners up there.
Also watched kids who were good, not great, grow in to the sport and go on to receive scholarships while the great ones peeked to early and either they quit baseball during HS and/or never played beyond HS.

Advice for the dads.. bring a chair, sit in the outfield and enjoy watching the game.

If you don’t have a Yeti full of beer in the back of your truck you are doing it totally wrong.

You’ll eventually learn
