Just change your tactics. Don't grovel and beg for it, let her ask for it and if that doesn't happen, have an affair or get a mistress.

No. My wife hit 40 and wants it all the time. I enjoy saying no sometimes.

It’s hilarious, I’ll tell her we’re just going to kiss, I don’t want to have sex and it’s like giving her a spanish fly.

He should start using those excuses for any and every time she asks him for something. That’ll make his marriage better.

my buddy is going through a rough patch. he says there is no sex in the bedroom (been months) and anytime he brings it up or tries to initiate in a non-rapey kind of way, he gets the same thing i used to get before getting divorced "i'm tired." "not right now." "maybe later." "let's just see how the night goes."

Then they need to sit down like two adults and talk about it. Beating around the bush with "being nice" and "doing nicer things" isn't going to do anything unless you get to the root of the issue.

If they can't communicate, then they're headed for divorce.

said he was just a prick for the most part especially early on and was very selfish. she hasn't forgiven him. he admitted he probably wasn't ready for marriage when they got married.
Sounds like some therapy might help. She clearly is resentful towards him.

Maybe he could be nice and do non-selfish things now and it would help
This.

Woo her, court her, treat her how he did when they were dating. These are things I hear women say that work but I mostly think like a guy (hence the reason I post here) so the "romantic" things don't really matter greatly to me.
This again, just cuz you got married means you stop doing all the stuff you did to get her.

Sexless marriages are miserable and ultimately doomed. I do not understand how men can endure relationships where they have sex once every couple of weeks, or even less frequently. Sex is what distinguishes a platonic from a romantic relationship. Sex is the highest form of pleasure a human can experience, one of life's true joys. All of the science supports common sense anecdotal information: sex is psychologically beneficial and central to a healthy, intimate relationship. Couples should have as much sex as possible while they are alive and healthy enough to have it.
quote:

All well and good, but most women are not drawn to sex because it “is one of life’s true joys” or because its “psychologically beneficial”.
Says who? You?

I'm assuming you're not a woman? Because that's patently false, especially the latter part in bold.

My woman is drawn to it because I'm her husband and she desires the physical intimacy, as well as the psychological benefits of her husband's hard cock. It is one of the joys of life for her just like it is for me, and she is all woman- no different than the majority of women who are in stable relationships.

Perhaps you're projecting the few women (relatively speaking versus an entire planet's worth of women) and the type of women that they were/are (e.g., whores), but what the man said applies to a real woman- the kind of woman you ought to marry if you've any sense.

So, I don't know what you're working with, but this ain't it chief.

I bet if your buddy was rocked up and looked like a j crew model, his wife would suddenly be more interested. No offense to your friend, it’s not a realistic expectation. These days a lot of men and women have unrealistic expectations of marriage and their spouses

Going months without having sex with your spouse isn't normal. Maybe if y'all are 80.
