If she's not emotionally or physically cheating, she is harboring a major grudge against him over some deep issues. Marriage counseling would be my suggestion. We went at 5 years and it made all the difference in how we communicate instead of holding little things in until the blow up. And it only took 3 or 4 sessions.

16 years and I've never pulled an "I'm tired"

He needs to talk about the elephant in the room. Trust me, it's no fun to talk about but if not then he will be left to come up with the reasons why on his own. There's a reason, whether she's cheating or emotionally disconnected, but it needs to be discussed. And if the problem is him, he has a choice to fix it and vice versa.
It's not rocket science. And as someone said below a sexless marriage is doomed. It's a big love language for some.

he says there is no sex in the bedroom (been months) and anytime he brings it up or tries to initiate in a non-rapey kind of way, he gets the same thing i used to get before getting divorced "i'm tired." "not right now." "maybe later." "let's just see how the night goes."

He needs to talk to his wife about it. Period. A real talk. It's hard, but be a man. Tell her it's an issue.

I don't get it...are you calling me fat? Yeah, I'm 300 pounds douche bag.

And does any female "need" to try hard to have sex with their husband? Do they ever say no?

Maybe he could be nice and do non-selfish things now and it would help

Woo her, court her, treat her how he did when they were dating. These are things I hear women say that work but I mostly think like a guy (hence the reason I post here) so the "romantic" things don't really matter greatly to me.

One thing that does get me in the mood is when my husband does chores I usually do. Now I have more free time and feel amorous about sharing some of that time with him.

Rejection followed by inevitable humiliation.

I refer to the drive thru window at chick fil a as the chickie nuggie hole.

Never heard anyone else do this so I am now concerned I know this person IRL.

Women are easy to manipulate like that. Say no to them once in a while. They will overcompensate and jump your bones twice a day for the next week to prove to themselves they still got it.

I did and a "nugget hole" is when a sex partner will let you put anything in their butt.

Not every guy is in some sexless marriage where they have to take it whenever they can get it.

I just meant aren't men always in the mood? The notion that a woman has to go out of her way to "get" her husband to have sex with her is foreign to me. In response to the "try harder" comment.

No.

Again, I don't have to take it anytime it's offered because my wife and I have a healthy sex life. So when I'm not feeling it, I can say no because I know that it will be available later. But to get to that point requires being with the right partner. Not sure if you'd call getting there "trying harder'" but maybe.

what's sad is mine said it in all seriousness. as in she was not joking and thought it was a good and tactful response.

We know, you said it in the OP. Sure you tried to disguis it as "your friend's wife" but nobody buys that shite.
