Any way to do the following?

Column A has various 2-4 letter words or abbreviations (such as axx, cde, pm, etc).

Column B has numerical values for each instance of that particular item in column A. So we might have axx 5.2, axx (1.87) and axx 6.45 (each instance of axx is it's own row in column A and the corresponding numerical value is on same row in column B).

Im trying to find a way for excel to identify all cells with the same word/abbrev (such as axx) from column A and sum up the numerical values from column B and show the sum total in column C (maybe on same row as the largest instance of axx or the sum can be listed in column C for all rows containing axx (whatever might be easier or possible).

Hopefully this dumb frick explained clearly enough.

Anyone?

It’s either “some issues” or “a issue”. Take your millennial spelling back to reddit

Seems like you could do a pivot table where your column is the identifier in A and sum of column B, but maybe I don’t understand the question

"an issue"

I always find it entertaining when someone insults another person on here for bad grammar or spelling while making a mistake themselves.

Never change OT.

Sumifs & Countifs are your friends.

Google the examples from Ablebits. They are outstanding.

In C1: sumif($a$1:$a$10000,a1,$b$1:$b$10000) then fill down

Or just use a pivot table
