PS - One problem. With your layout I'd have to enter the rows/columns for each item right? So I'd need a different formula for axx, pm, etc so that's not exactly what I was looking for.
I want it to search the column and add them up without me putting a different formula for each word/phrase

So you want to sort column A, add the numbers in column B and have the total of column B to appear in column C?
I might not be understanding clearly, but if there are multiple numbers in column B, why not put each number in its own column so you can easily add them up using sum?

You said you had two number in column B you wanted to add up so that you can show the sum in C right?

I forgot to tell you that sometimes the word/phrase in column A will have other shite in the cell with it. So it could be axx, axx 438, axx 2/15, etc. I'm trying to get it to pick up on any cell containing axx then grab the corresponding numerical value from B and summing it up in C.

Unfortunately I suck at explaining how to do something because a lot of times I don't know exactly what someone needs unless I am looking at it and I know that I can figure it out.
