Because she filed our taxes in2014 and we split right before it kept the refund and is now asking me to pay because she was audited. We’ve both remarried and I don’t care. What could she do now? Not worried about the irs just want nothing to do with her.

Update... so she was getting rent from a place I owned, not paying the mortgage and then not claiming it when she filed. My parents had to pay 10 grand to keep it out of foreclosure

If she filed the taxes, how did you end up with the refund?

I don't think she has a leg to stand on btw. Even if she did sue you for it, shed spend more in attorney fees than she'd get out of you.

Is your community property not settled? Shouldn’t be a problem if it is

She got the refund then we split. Now she’s been audited and they say she owes.

If it was 2014 the return is less than 5 years old and when did the IRS start examining returns that old unless there was fraud

We have nothing together. The house mortgage was owned by my grandmother and as soon as she broke the agreement, late payments and didn’t pay the taxes, my grandmother took it back and sold it.

Bang her, record it and then email to her and let her know you have her new husband's cell number.

She will quickly change her mind....quickly

There within lies your answer. Be nice about it but stand your ground.
