Yeah if someone's a heroin addict, they're obviously not satisfied with their life

that's the key there. If we can reconnect people with relationships they have ruined or never had to begin with, get them plugged into society, that is the only true fix.
I tend to drink when I get bored and have nothing going on. When I have a bunch of shite going on, or places to be during the week, I don't even think about it.

IIRC this idea first surfaced post Vietnam. They expected a wave of addiction from returning vets who had been using over there. It never materialized. Most of them never picked it up after returning to their normal environment.

While interesting, it's got that classic 3am dorm room stoner timbre to it.
"See, what we need to do is just give EVERYONE happy stable lives with unlimited resources and friends and happy things!"
Gee, why didn't I think of that? You're telling me that people with lives are less likely to succumb to drug addiction??

Anyway we can get a TL;DR summary?
If you have friends and lots of sex, you won't get addicted to dope.

There are tons of people who accidentally get addicted to opioids from prescribed medicine and eventually become heroin addicts.

Moving to Switzerland and going to their rehab as a sex addict..

Whoa who whoa, hold on.
He fricked that up. Had he gotten the rat addicted first THEN put him in rat park and he went clean, then he'd have something.
Like a rat, people will eat up anything... including BS experiments.

Joe Rogan had a podcast with someone and they talked about the Swiss method of drug rehab. You go into a clinic, get a fix but over time they gradually ween you off and the addiction is replaced with something productive. They've had a lot of success with this model.
That was this guy and no they never ween you off. You get as much drugs as you can safely take at one time each day.
They spend their money not on law enforcement but in life improvement and that’s why it works. Not the weening off.

That guy was on Joe Rogan's podcast. IT was pretty interesteing.

Someone’s gotta pay for it. I assume you want to shut down some jails in order to pay for it?

Well, yeah. For non-violent offenders? You wouldn't? Please don't tell me you're that guy who is lock em up and let fester.

I read link and it was very interesting and I’ve never heard of the “rats in heaven” test before. It still all boils down to do you need a crutch to walk on this earth? Or can you walk alone with a crutch. Regardless of your environment or your living conditions you will still either need a crutch or not. Heroin and opiates in general is a crutch as well as alcohol, gambling, mammon, and all the rest. I know men that have the ideal situations in life with the vagina, money, food, and “rat heaven” bullshat and they still need a crutch or they don’t. It’s not very complicated. I need a crutch full disclosure.

Not at all. I was just asking how we are going to pay for it because addicts generally have no money.
But here’s the thing. Most places have dropped mandatory minimum sentencing for most drugs as long as there is no violence involved with it. The problem is the drug addicts cannot hold down steady work so they have to resort to sentenced crimes to buy. That is why a lot of people are in jail now

There is a reactionary, and to be honest a pretty much humane, way to cull the opiate crisis in this country but I’m scared to post it. It would get downvoted by anybody that bothered to read it if anybody.

Just post it. Downvotes don’t actually hurt

If you decriminalized drugs or at least how we police it now, jails would be cleaned out
