I hate going but it's pretty easy to have a great time there. They do a great job across the board in terms of experience and service.

We went to Disney World in the summer of 1974. I hated it. It was hot, the lines were crazy long, the food was nasty and all I could think was that I would rather be at Pontchartrain Beach. I think I went on all of 3 rides. It was lame as shite. That same trip, I went fishing with my uncle outside of Jacksonville and had a blast driving the boat, catching fish, drinking root beer and eating baloney sandwiches.

And then I remember watching Nixon resign on TV.

What a long, strange trip that was.

Eh, if you have the choice of spending 2 weeks in Europe seeing actual castles, villages, etc, or spending a week at Disney and spending 2-3 park days in sweltering Florida summer heat for the same price... it seems a certain demographic will stare you in the face and tell you Disney is a better choice every time .

Yeah, frick Europe! No way kids could have fun there! Neither of my kids ever mention Disney, they talk about things in France and Spain, and it was cheaper than Disney. But there's almost no convincing the Disney devotees of anything else.

Driving home today after a week

Wasn’t terribly crowded

Hot as balls except for when it’s pissing rain

Stayed at the Grand Floridian.

Highly recommend

I don’t care for the place. Been several times for the kids over the years both because we chose to and because we had to go for cheer competition.
Recently we were all supposed to go but I had a medical complication and had to stay home. I would give anything to have been able to go as my kids are older and this was probably our last family trip there probably. Maybe last trip together ever.

want to go to the wilderness resort next time

Last visit we rented DVC points and stayed at Copper Creek which is the DVC portion of Wilderness Lodge. Really enjoyed sitting in the lobby just relaxing while the family was getting ready

I am indifferent towards it, wife & kids love it; so, we've been 3 times in the past 5 years. Will be skipping 2026 for some other big trips, but probably will be back there again in 2027.

I’m not gonna lie, I loved Disney when I went as an 8y/o and I loved it when we went for a basketball tourney in HS. I can’t wait to have kids and give them that same feeling. Not sure why it gets so much shite on here other than the price

My sister just priced a one-week trip in December staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge (one of the cheapest deluxe resorts) with her husband and two kids. Just the hotel and tickets alone are very close to $10K, and that's with the 20% discount they released. This doesn't include food, photos, souvenirs, etc. The room isn't even a suite, just a savanna view studio.

She's pretty sure they will spend over $13K on Disney property, not counting travel. I told her she's should take her entire family to Europe and save some money.

Any chance she or her husband served in the military? There is a military resort that is really affordable and quite nice.

No military service, and they know there are cheaper options. They really love both lodges though.

Kids do not appreciate or give a shite about Europe. One of the dumbest tropes on here is that taking your shithead kid to Europe is some kind of flex. Leave them at home.

The only time I will go to Orlando is in the winter when the kids are in school.

We did a week at universal after the LSU-Florida game.

It wasn’t crowded at all and the weather was bearable
