Now you can find out.

For instance, these are the Flock cameras around Lakeside Mall in Metry.

Flock Safety cameras are solar-powered, AI-enabled Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR) used by law enforcement, HOAs, and businesses to capture vehicle data. They take still photos of rear license plates, identifying vehicle make, color, and unique features, rather than recording live video of passengers. These cameras help police solve crimes by providing searchable, 30-day stored data, though they have raised privacy concerns regarding surveillance.

Not sure if they have a zoom feature.

Do cameras record? If so, how can someone obtain a video?

Do these even work with the license plate covers that are everywhere now? Given the amount I see on the road every day, police don't even bother trying to enforce that law so people concerned with these cameras and their privacy might as well buy one as well

It's not about enforcing that law. That's the pretextual stop play. Technically against the law but such a BS reason FOR the stop. Then the warrant check and car search follows closely behind.

Flock cameras (and many others) are far creepier than you could imagine.

Thirty days my arse. They build a huge complex database. Law enforcement are able to label vehicles, people, and places as “hot.” For example is an address labeled hot, the vehicles that frequent there get added as well as the registered vehicle owners and the other vehicles they own. The more hot vehicles get near other hot vehicles and addresses, the risk grade changes. The risk grade puts a big arse target on a hot vehicle and that tells the cops when to put the doughnuts down and get set to make up a false reason to pull it over.

I’m a law abiding American citizen. I have no issues with these cameras.

There are efforts to ban these sites that track/locate these cams, making them illegal.
