Because of majority (Chicago and its suburbs) they vote liberal, but just like any midwestern state, get out of the city and you don’t get that feel at all.

No, Illinois is a really awful state with Chicago propping it up. The topography in Illinois is some of the worst in the US

I-57 between Effingham and the edge of the Chicago suburbs is one of the ugliest parts of the country. Flat, empty, and a million wind turbines.

If I'm not mistaken, Illinois is slug only. I think hunting with rifles is prohibited.
I know you cannot buy ammo with an out of state license when I went duck hunting there a few years back.

Does it …? Exactly where? I’m in agricultural machine sales and do a lot of work and traveling in the Midwest. I’ve found Illinois to be one of the more boring landscapes (and that includes many visits to Indiana, Kansas, Oklahoma and Nebraska).
