I do because I know the amount of upvotes and downvotes can easily influence the crowd. If I feel a board is becoming toxic with negativity like on the Rant or CC board I'll upvote a positive post even if I disagree with the notion itself. I'll upvote people if they bring a new idea or way of thinking to a board instead of the same regurgitated crap. Even if they're trolling or an obvious alter their content can make things interesting.

To be completely honest with you, I don't really put much thought into it. I think it depends on who is saying what. For example, I could make the best post ever made on this board and I would get downvoted.

You laugh but the internet or people caring about what other people think on the internet is the reason our country is more divided now than ever. There's no middle ground in beliefs anymore. It's either extreme liberalism or extreme conservatism.

Exactly!! Just like Shakespeare predicted, we're all gonna tear each other apart cause of these votes!!! Up, down, it doesn't matter, they're all just throwing coal in the engine of this locomotive that's driving our species straight to hell!!!
