Rancho Allegre restaurant in Brownsville, Texas took out three of us.
We ordered some burritos for lunch during an ISO audit. I woke up in the middle of the night sweating like crazy and had to get on the red eye flight at 5:30 in the morning. My stomach was rumbling but I held it together. Didn't think much of it. Got on my 2-1/2 hour connecting flight and was starting to sweat again, stomach was cramping and I couldn't sit still at all. Tried to brush it off and drank some water. Got off the plane, grabbed my luggage and walked to my truck and when I opened my door promptly threw up all over the parking garage floor. Actually felt ok after that and drove home.
As soon I walked in the house, it was on, I spent the next three days with explosive diarrhea, running to the bathroom, fever, sweats, complete exhaustion, only time I got out of bed was to poop. Thank goodness we had young kids and wet wipes in the house. Monday afternoon I was finally able to get into family doc and get some meds.
I believe to this day, that poisoning hardened my stomach or the bacteria in it and is why I don't ever get sick from eating bad food.

It’s true, don’t drink the water in Mexico, especially Mexico City. Spanish class trip during the holidays. Got really drunk the last night and woke up thirsty. The whole bus ride back I was in and out of the bathroom, on a bus. Good times until then.

All these Mexican restaurant experiences, makes me believe the cook is repaying Gringo for deporting his buddies

Only takes one time. Once you learn that the hard way, you don’t treat rice the same. Either get cooled and stored properly right away, or throw it out and remove all doubt.

Potatoes, too. When I read how dangerous rice is I put it up as soon as it cools.

I cooked this rice myself you fricking tool. And reheated it the next day. Guess it was out too long on the counter before I cooled it. That's the problem. Slapdick my arse. Motherfricker

What you eatin, baw?
A lot of raw and undercooked food, food of questionable origin and quality, and leftovers probably better served to the garbage if not for my dislike of wasting it.

unpasteurized/unwashed/unrefrigerated eggs in Costa Rica. Delivered from the grocery with shite and feathers stuck to them. Figured I could just wash them before cracking open and that would be good enough since I was some distance to the nearest store and it was early in the morning. NOPE.
Both my daughter and I (she helped with breakfast prep) missed the next three days of the vacation after surviving hell. The kind where you pray for death. You aren't sure where to put your head and where to put your arse and neither are gonna wait for you to figure it out.
