Yes I have. :(
Once you have had it you will go to great lengths to not get it again.

Years ago dad, myself and some other folks climbed a 13,500’ mountain in Colorado.
We were told due to incoming weather if we hadn’t made the top by 1:00pm we should turn around and start back.
Dad legs were playing out fast, but we were only ~ 200 yards from the top so I kept urging him on. We didn’t reach the peak until a little after 2:00pm.
We stayed at the top for about 10 minutes to try and let his legs recover then started back down when the storm blew in. We tried to pick up the pace but were complete enveloped in clouds with zero visibility so we stopped.
It was then that the hairs on my neck and arms started standing up…very weird and I sensed what was coming. As we were above the tree line with no cover we squatted to get as low as possible and separated ourselves from our metal framed packs. Then the lightening and thunder started. Two strikes were very close…almost zero spacing between the flash and bang and we thought we felt the current in our feet. With no visibility I couldn't see how close they were.
It was a long 20 minutes and the storm finally let up with visibility of 50-100yrds, so we started down again and lived to tell the tale. That was the closest I have come to getting struck by lightning.

Get those youngins taking advantage of it!
My daughter graduated college in 3 yrs (carried 1 yr of credits from HS). She had full time job in would-be Sr year. Puts 10% aside into her 401K starting that year.
Super proud of her! Miracle of compounding indeed.
Let them $ fight like soldiers along side you.
That is awesome…Good Job!!!
The US is one of the richest nations on the globe but our education system is sucks! We should be teaching the importance of finance, education, work ethic to children starting at an early age.
When my kids were young I hammered the idea of investing starting early in life. They are appreciative of that education now.
The other day I started in on my grandchildren using smaller numbers they could relate to.
Investing $25 a week starting at age 18 through age 65(47 yrs) at 8% interests/growth = $557,000.

A pretty useless observation when you realize most people don't have boats

We are in one of the greatest bull markets in history. When I watch, they readily admit we are due for a pull back but most don’t see that happening for another 2 years. I dont think anyone that’s a long term investors really cares if it happens tomorrow or in 2028

All of you who are paid social media influencers working for Left Wing/Anti Capitalist/Socialist/Communist/Anti Trump or Foreign entities raise your hands.

Give some to the advisor and you invest some of it. You can to ETF's until you get more comfortable before wading into stocks. Most advisors cannot beat the S&P so try VOO or SPY and compare your returns at the end of the year.

re: Is anybody else the help desk for their elderly parents technology confusion?

I'm one of those oldsters. I am fair with technology but when I do need help with something level 1 tech support is my daughter and level 2 support is my grandchildren.
