Had a grandparent that cut some of their children out of everything. They were spiteful and hateful while alive, so it kinda seems fitting they would be the same in death.

I'm not expecting anything from my parents (they don't have much). Kinda the black sheep.

My wife's grandparents were loaded, with 7 children. They told all the children that there would be no inheritance. They gave a crapload to the city and a monster crapload to a charity.

The children contested the will but I have never asked how it came out.

Not quite cut out, but my aunt passed away last year and I wasn’t named.

The previous 7 years, she and I had developed a closer bond as her kids wouldn’t speak with her. Toxic environment yet she did cause a lot of it.
She had mentioned gifting me something but I never put much stock in it. (Mentioned = called me from attorneys office to clarify personal info)

Well, her estate was divided 50/50 to her two daughters with no gifts cited. No harm, no foul because I never expected anything. Only disappointment I had was yet another family member lying/misleading me again. Oh well. It was a sad end and now her daughters dispise one another.......glad I’m removed from that Tom Foolery.

There is no forced heirship in La. If a child or other relative is a POS, just omit their name from the will and they get $ 0.00.

My sister is out of my mom's. Well sorta. She gets "all the love and understanding a mother could give". She borrowed $30,000 from Mom for her divorce from husband #2 and has never paid it back. That loan is also mentioned in the will as to be paid back to the estate, once Mom passes away. I don't know the legality of that situation.

I've always thought that heirs fighting about an inheritance was as trashy as it gets. If your parents had a considerable amount of money it generally means you grew up with every advantage and opportunity to succeed in life. If you're relying on an inheritance then you prolly don't deserve one.

This wasn't some random thing, she totally deserves to be cut out. There was some shady shite from her and her husband in a business deal with my dad.

Let me clarify.

The entire estate had that included. The money he had left for executor was a very small percentage of the estate. I didn't feel comfortable taking money and his children not getting any.

My Uncle (by marriage) passed away several years ago, he had two sons by my Aunt. He willed just about everything to his oldest son, the youngest got very little, not enough to even talk about. His youngest son has issues mainly a drug and alcohol addiction, he's a derelict, so that's the reason my Uncle cut him out (long story).

We don’t really have any contact with my mom or dad (my side of the family in general).

They have their problems that they try to project on us. Always asking for money. Mom tried to stay with us for awhile to get back on her feet. I gave her one rule: Get mental help/substance abuse help and you can live here rent free and we will support you. She refused so I had to kick her out. By far the absolute hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, but I had to accept that a healthy mother just doesn’t put her son and DIL in that position and that wasn’t going to be going on in our house. I’ll say it a second time, hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.

Just wait till it happens to you. Your siblings true colors will come out. No matter what you do someone will feel slighted and get their own attorney. What they don't realize is that fighting costs everyone money and whittles down what they would have received if they would have followed the will.

Unfortunately been there, done that. Have a sibling I do not speak to anymore.

My grandfather was supposed to will me his house and land, he changed his mind and gave it to my cousin, my cousin then sold it.

Yep. My dad and his sister were extremely close and always got along. When sister had a "nervous breakdown," my grandmother decided she didn't want to live with her anymore and went to live with my dad. Sister flipped out and accused my dad of trying to get all of the inheritance.

In reality, my dad took much better care of my grandmother and she was much happier there. When the sister was being so awful, my grandmother said she wanted to take her out of the will, but my dad talked her out of it.

My grandparents had a trust with an impartial executer set up to avoid any sibling fighting (among other reasons) - they never dreamed it would take place before death.

Sadly, Dad died right after my grandmother, so he never got to spend a dime of it.

I probably will be cut out of my real fathers will -- but I don't give a rats rear end. He left my mother when she was pregnant and was having affairs. Then he cheated on his second wife that I dearly loved.

I've avoided calls/texts that he recently started making/sending and I just don't really care. I'm not mad -- I just don't care.

The fact that last week was my birthday and I didn't get a card (that his current wife always sends) is a pretty good sign he's perhaps gotten the message that I'm over it. At least I hope.

My brothers and I have made copies of my Dad's will. We knew he did not have much and basically it read,

Youngest son can have my tv set.
Middle son can have my window ac.
Oldest son (me) lives out of town so he is out of luck.

Loved that old man to death. Iwo Jima caused him terrible nightmares and Ancient Age gave him an escape.

I barely knew the man. I just OT was best to honor his wishes. I spent a little bit of time and didn’t feel like I needed any amount of money to honor his wishes.

A trust was set up. The grandchildren got their college paid. Got some money afterwards after they completed and then some.

The children were pissed but I honored the man’s wishes. He picked me as executor because my grandfather had passed away and in his will described why my grandfathers descended would follow through with his wishes.

It was s strange situation.

I guess he trusted you. Or he trusted your grandfather and was able to wager that your character was worthy of trust, too.
