Either cut someone out of the will or even cut all ties in general.

Overall, I’ve had good relations with all my family. But I hear such stories now and again. They intrigue me and I wonder how common it really is.

Yep just recently. My step mom cut her son out completely for reasons she will not discuss. Her step sons (my brother and I) are her inheritors. Dude is a POS. He didn’t come to my dad’s and his sister’s funerals. frick him.

Not my family but others sure.

One was because the guy already basically got his inheritance in the form of bailing out a COUPLE of business failures and keeping the guy's kids, the grandkids, out of the ghetto's/trailer parks/section 8.

Another was because the surviving parent gave everyone in the family early inheritance so there could be no infighting, no arguing, and to dissolve all assets before entering a rest home a few years later.

Like all things in life: shite happens

Had a 4th cousin name me as the executor of his will. Was very specific in his wishes that his children didn’t get anything. Wanted everything to go to his grandchildren.

It was extremely weird situation since I only met the man once.

There was money for me to execute and I donated it to a charity that he listed in the will.

It was a considerable about of money. Just a portion was 10 shares of Berkishe Hathaway with a home from n the Hamptons.

His kids hate me but I honored his wishes.

I know for sure my sister has been cut out of my parents' will. Not sure about my brother.

My dad and his twin brother have completely cut ties with their older brother. Long story short the older brother was milking their parents for money all the time. He was living a comfortable lifestyle and I know now it was my on my grandparents dime.

Father died and mother gave up all will to live. They had to put her in a home and while in the home and not fully aware and very sick, he had her writing him checks because he needed money. Dad and other brother found out after she died looking at some papers. Mother dies and he goes in the house and takes a lot of shite without consulting the brothers.

It's been 12+ years and my my dad still doesn't talk to the older brother. Not sure if he even has once during that period. Might have exchanged a few emails but that's it and he has no intent to open up communications. Sad situation.

I barely knew the man. I just OT was best to honor his wishes. I spent a little bit of time and didn’t feel like I needed any amount of money to honor his wishes.

A trust was set up. The grandchildren got their college paid. Got some money afterwards after they completed and then some.

The children were pissed but I honored the man’s wishes. He picked me as executor because my grandfather had passed away and in his will described why my grandfathers descended would follow through with his wishes.

It was s strange situation.

Oh, I just remembered a local one! Right here in this small town.

My late cousin's best friend, they grew up together. The friend's Dad has the only New Car dealership in about a 20 mile radius. Has had it since before I was born. Auto dealership and the properties, including working ranch, goes to the daughter solely.

Reason is the son is a multi drug addict (not current user and hopes to never relapse) and current alcoholic (I've seen him 2x in my 54 year life without a drink in his hand). Such a serious alchy he doesn't own a car nor have a driver's license, gets around on a 4 wheeler or farm tractor.

The son lives across the road from the old man, takes care of him since his mother died. He's not a bad guy anymore, just a good ol boy drunk who works about 8 hours a week sweeping up at the dealership and drinks and hunts/fishes/gardens rest of the time. He's like 62 years old with 3 or 4 ex wives with some kids and grandkids of his own. Dyslexic as can be so not very educated but yet still smart.

I’m not sure anyone in my family has had a will.
My parents might but I’ve never asked. Not really worried about it.
