Never gotten sick from raw sushi. I've gotten sick from cooked oysters though.

I’ve been eating sashimi for 20+ years and have never gotten sick from it. I’ve had bad oysters before and that wasn’t fun.

once a month I will cure salmon.
use a gallon plastic bag, insert a 3 lb fillet. in bowl mix half cup of salt, third cup of brown sugar, quarter cup of garlic powder, tablespoon of coarse ground black pepper. add to bag, shake to get mixture well distributed over fish. add a tablespoon of rich soy sauce. place in a dish in refrigerator. after one day shake liquid around inside bag for distribution. on third day remove salmon, rinse and slice thinly.
serve with cracker, cream cheese, capers, and finely cut onion

two weeks ago we went 40 miles off shore to catch our 2 red snapper per person limits. Plus one that was quickly filleted and sliced thin. meat was soaked in lime juice for 30 minutes and chopped cilantro, onion, jalapeño pepper, fresh chopped tomato, fresh finely chopped garlic. ceviche is what it is called an d on a cracker is great.
on the way back in we got boarded by parks and wildlife who did a count of the 8 snappers. they did a cursory check for hidden fish. we could not offer a beer, but I did fix them up with ceviche and crackers

Honestly you can taste bad sushi immediately. You are much more likely to get sick/food poisoning from ham, turkey, that has been handled by someone.
You will be fine.
You will be fine.

Didn’t even try to catch mangroves or any other species?

Nope but I have off other foods. I got so sick at work one time from salad or chicken I though I was going to die. I felt like shite for a couple weeks.
Salmon and Tuna are my favorites I'm not much in to all the rolls. I can eat Salmon and Tuna just about anyway it's prepared.

Salmon has a strong taste to me.
Then what you ate was smoked salmon, which has an intense flavor. Raw salmon, much like tuna has virtually no taste. It really a texture thing.

Sashimi should worry you more, if at all!
