A fraternity brother works for the CIA, but on the analysis side. Also, a guy from my home town, West Point grad, officially works for the State Dept, but based on the location of his assignments, I suspect he's CIA. Spends a lot of time in the border area of Pakistan, etc.

There is a guy in my neighborhood that I am convinced is either into some spy type shite or just paranoid as all getout. Every time I pass his house, my phone disconnects from my truck (has done this to all 3 trucks that I've had while living there) and I lose signal. Only place this ever happens and if I go out the other exit to the hood it doesn't happen.

My aunt used to be married to a guy who habitually made comments about his former employment with the CIA. That dumb motherfricker had about as much of a chance being employed by that outfit as my neighbor's dumbass dog.

A relative of mine works for a car advertising company. They are based in Alabama but have tons of meetings in Detroit.
The company decided it would be easier to rent an apartment than to keep booking a hotel room.
There were 6 different guys using the apartment all wearing suits and coming and going at odd times.
The guys have a great sense of humor and decided not to tell anyone else in the building why they were there.
They had several people convinced they were CIA, FBI or something similar.
Had fun with that for almost two years.

I don't know about being spies but I do have suspicions on a couple of people I know. I live in a town that has a pretty good sized community of active duty and retired spec. op/forces dudes. I know quite a few of them and know pretty much where or what they do...except two of them. Both are former spec op/force dudes, one is former 5th Group the other is a former Night Stalker. Both are always "out of town" for long stretches of time. The one that I'm close to has a company that serves as a front..the company doesn't exist and he uses it to get paid by whatever organization that he works for. We have prodded him about what is it that he does but the answers are always vague, so we don't press the issue anymore. CIA has a special activities division (SAD) that serves as their direct action force. I suspect he is with them because they embed with spec forcecs/ops guys and one clue this guy dropped is one thing he does do is embed with Spec Forces on occasions.

My next door neighbour was in the army special forces. He told me he retired and now he "sells coupons" in the newspaper. He is probably 38.
- Drives a brand new leased Lexus every year.
- Never see him home, only time I catch him is for his morning run. Very fit and Mil haircut all the time.
- Travels and is gone for what seems like months at a time. Yet shows up randomly out of the blue and makes it seem like he is there.
- Spent a few months in these random small countries on "vacation"
- His flood lights are the most powerful damn things I have ever seen, has multiple cameras on the house (as do we), and he is way too nice. Definitely can't figure him out

What do you mean deal with? You just don't ask too many questions. Be a patriot.

My mom almost married a spy. He was with DOD or CIA or something. He was a intelligence agent but told us he was no james bond and did boring mundane crap. He did always have a cool pistol in his briefcase he always had with him.
They were getting married and we were moving to Naples Italy were he was based. He was going to teach me to scuba dive, drive a boat, all kinds of stuff. He showed my pictures of this cannon his "crew" had found off Naples in 50 foot of water and promised me that they were going to wait until I learned to dive that Summer to bring it up. Gave me a BB gun when I was ten, but didn't give me any BB's told me it was ricochet gun. Coolest guy I ever knew, and he loved kids and was great with us. We all loved him and looked forward to our new life overseas full of adventure and fun.
About a month before we were set to move he was getting off a plane somewhere and was attacked by Russian agent or something, who wanted his briefcase, and has hospitalized etc. My mom freaked out, decided she could be an "agents wife" and deal with not knowing if he was ok etc, called wedding off. They stayed friends for many years though.
My life would have been completely different if not for that incident. Damn Russian agent fricked up everything.

No, but I did know an FBI agent that was SAIC of a terrorism counteraction unit that got caught uploading kiddie porn to his ex wife and her hubbie's computer from his government computer and then making an anonymous call from his government cell phone and he is in prison now. Does that count?

Your neighbor is a spook. There is no such thing as a retired spook btw, once a spook always a spook, and they almost always do very very well financially after retirement.
Great neighbor to have, keep a watch on his house for him and he will appreciate it. Offer to cut grass, prune bushes etc, when he is out. He will probably bring you back cool shite from overseas in return. Invite him for dinner etc, don't ask questions about his work shite etc. The less he has to lie to you the better he will feel. They like to a sense of normal life, or to get a taste of that when not deployed. You can tell him you appreciate his sacrifice for our Country and his service if you have too.

Could be, but there are plenty of legit State guys out there.
I've dealt with a number of people in the IC but I knew they were so I don't think it counts. Mostly analysts or lawyers but some operations people as well. Ditto for special operations guys, but as far as I know they're all "regular" special operations.

Sounds like a Kevin Costner movie.

We know him well, I think

My 8 year-old son is a "high secret level ninja club spy."

I know 1 guy that is for sure. We aren't friends or anything, I know him through his sister who is friends with my wife.
He works for the "government" in some unknown position. Travels between African countries and can't tell anyone where he is or what he's doing. Went to Emory in Georgia and was recruited to work for the government in some capacity.
His sister told us some crazy shite. He carries a government issued hand gun wherever he goes, dresses like you'd expect, is incredibly vague about being an "analyst for different embassies" or some shite. His wife doesn't even know what he does and she just accepts that
And my sister's father-in-law works in the Pentagon, but that guy is NO spy
. I think he is an IT&S tech for non-classified (or interesting) work force.

He was one of the undercover agents in the Candyman sting.

Every detail of your description fits my cousin to the T. I'm guessing Nashville is the largest city in the area that you're talking about?

I had a history professor at LSU back in the 80s that, while he didn't advertise it, it was an open secret that he was with The Company.
Stanley E. Hilton. I don't think he was active at LSU, but he DEFINITELY hunted Nazis in Brazil in the 1960s. He even wrote a book about it. I'm thinking he was - at the very least - cooperating with CIA and Mossad.
So, there's that...
