Yes there were a few in Central Louisiana we used to visit when I was a kid in the 60s and we would climb up to the top and visit the Ranger and he would tell us what was what.

This was the last one. But more like climbing to a tower vs climbing a tower.
I didn't do that but I did hike to Avalanche Lake and did a horse back ride not far from there and that is some rugged territory for sure.

I did do a fire tower in Maine but getting to the tower was the hard part.

There were a few around the Memphis area when I was there in the late 70’s/early 80’s. Bunches of people would climb them and party up top.

One really good looking girl with nice long legs jumped off one. Just a nutcase hottie. She didn’t kill herself as intended. Instead she had a near death experience that made her appreciate life and screwed her up physically beyond repair. One side was all shriveled up and twisted from head to toe. She even had one normal butt cheek and the other was half the size. Her left leg was wavy shaped.

Yes. Played JC baseball in Mississippi for 2 years. It’s where we would go to have fun.

Nothing like driving 8-10 miles to buy beer because your school was in a dry county then drive back to climb a fire tower and drink beer. The good old days

We would ride our bikes to the lake in the summertime. Have to pass right by one on the way. Stop, hike up the stairs and talk to a La. Forest tech I guess, and he would show us the operation. Then during 4th of July, we would climb it and watch the fireworks, good times.

I used to climb one years ago when I was worried that the bad guys would find me and my mom. Some guy that claimed that he was my dad ended up finding me up there.

Halfway up the old Corney Lake firetower. But I think it was just ladder steps attached to the side, it wasn't stairs.............. i think.

Several but when I did it there was no kind of security stopping me from just climbing the stairs

Nice. I didn't make it there. Much of Going to the Sun Rd was still closed due to snow.

Horse back would be sweet. When I'm older I want to do the Yosemite High Sierra Camps and get the mules to carry my gear.

Well I'll be damned!

We have a lake cabin just a few miles north of that tower. Photos taken by my son.
