Have you seen Rob Zombie live? Puts current acts to shame with his energy on the stage.

Mick Jagger older than everyone mentioned, still rocking. Still getting models pregnant.

Billy’s version of Plastic Jesus is in my “A+ playlist”. This is my playlist that’s always evolving and expanding. That song is a staple.

Plastic Jesus
I don’t know who made this video (it’s not very good). Listen, don’t watch.

The origin of the song rebel yell is pretty sweet.
Hanging around in muscle shoals with Rolling Stones passing around a bottle of rebel yell whiskey.

Love some Billy. Catch my fall and Dancing with Myself are still in regular rotation for me..

Funny story, my oldest kid used to love Billy Idol when she was little. She was 4 years old and she went to a Baptist Vacation Bible School with a friend (we weren't Baptists).

Well, at some point they were singing songs with the kids, and the leader asked, "what do y'all want to sing?"

My kid yells at the top of her lungs, "BILLY IDOL!!"

We didn't get asked to attend that church.

I can still see her strapped in her car seat rocking out to "Dancing with Myself."

He was in The Doors but had a far lesser role. He outright lost Terminatior.

Steve Stevens is massively underrated. There's one song from him that every red-blooded American knows

He also got a lot of international air play being the lead guitarist on Dirty Diana:

A buddy of mine who is a part-time musician said one of his grandsons asked him if they were going to play "Mississippi Queen" at church.

The results were insanely good, possibly even better than his album versions 40 years ago:

I think I agree. Outstanding.

And say nothing of the sweet falsetto coming from that bassist. Dude looks like he’s pushing 60, but sings like a 25 y/o chick.

At the peak of his popularity my dad had dinner with Billy and everyone on his tour bus at some truck stop in Utah.

Dad was an OTT driver back then and was on the CB back and forth with his bus driver when the bus driver said they were stopping to eat and asked if dad wanted to join them. Dad was hungry and said sure. My old man had no clue who Billy Idol was and the next time we talked he told me the whole story.

He told the story up to the meal without mentioning a name and after he was done I asked him “well, who was the dude” dad’s response was “I don’t know, some rock guy named Billy Idol”. I was pissed - Billy literally offered to give me a call and my dad was like nah, he’s good.

Love some Billy, but for old British rockers, I doubt I'm half as cool as Keith Richards.

Then again, Willie Nelson is like 150 and I'm not half as cool as him either.

He looks well. But for longevity and strength of performance, George Thorogood is hard to beat.

How is this man, who partied as hard as any rockstar, still capable of putting on this much of a quality performance? Watch videos of current Poison, Guns N Roses, White Snake, Def Leppard, etc... any 80s hair band and they look and perform like a band of dying skeletons, gasping for air and clinging onto life while barely mumbling through songs.
This is a terrible hot take.

Poison and Def Leppard, for instance, do NOT fit your description at all. Def Leppard look virtually like a team of professional gym trainers. They still sound great and take their appearance seriously. This is pretty true for poison also. Axl's voice has gone down a notch, but Duff and Slash are fit and better than ever. etc.
