You would get sick of MB after a while if you enjoy what Nola has to offer. The people there are very cliquey, if you know folks there it may be easier to adjust. SAW’s on crestline is where The Who’s who hang out if they’re not at the country club. Downtown bham has some decent bars and restaurants but nothing like anything Nola offers.

I live in Nola and visit MB a few times a year, my wife is a bama alumn and we have a bunch of friends that live there. I always have a great time but it’s the people we know there that make our visits fun not necessarily what MB/BHAM has to offer.

I would much prefer uptown or even Lakeview but I also enjoy everything Nola offers entertainment wise.

I’m staying in Vestavia Hills. We have had the exact same convo about moving our lives here. This place makes Nola look like a dumpster fire

Our kids are young enough; 3, 5 and 7 that a move wouldn’t totally disrupt their social circle.

Kids are very flexible and will make new friends regardless of age. At some level, the adults who pay the bills must decide where to work and live.
There may be some squawking, but kids will adjust.

New Orleans is a dumpster fire. If it were located in any other state besides Louisiana this board would be 100% in agreement of its shithole status.

Austin for evacu-cation leg 1
Muscle Shoals leg 2

It’s nice and just impoverished enough here. Plus 2 direct flights a day to ATL for like $35.

This entire post encapsulates what’s wrong with NOLA. Not once did you mention crime, jobs, schools, taxes, gov’t, etc, etc, etc. You know, all the things that make a place a nice place to live. All you’ve mentioned are the party things which is great for like a month or so, but THAT gets old really quick for adults.

NOLA has the Red Dress Run. Mnt Brook has the Wine 10K.

You know what the CCB and society crowd respects- the NOCC and NOLA society crowd.

If it weren’t for our friends in Nola, I think we could easily cut ties. I work from home and could easily make the switch. Our 7 year old doesn’t like the idea at all. The 5 and 3 year olds don’t care.

Move to the northshore if out of state is too drastic. You’ll probably feel like you’re in a different state anyway
