Easy DIY just don’t forget about that pesky toggle switch

I’d say there is an argument to only lease EVs. You don’t want to own them once the battery starts to deteriorate unless we have cheaper battery replacement options. They are disposable and should be treated as such.

An electrician. It usually isn't a hard project at all

Your wife doesn't respect you.

So many questions. I’ll start with do you also complain about the cost of childcare. How many tattoos combined do you and your wife have?

So who do I talk to about getting the charging point at my house?
Shouldn't this be something you look into before buying an EV?

Just curious but what exactly sold you on an EV?

Get a Chargepoint.
Which plug does yours take? That's the only decision you have to make... well, that and the electrician to install.

I don’t know anything about your particular car, but I bought a BMW ix M60 EV. It came with two charging cords - one for a 120 volt outlet and the other for 240 volts. I bought a BMW charger that supplies 40 amps at 240 volts (which is plenty) only to discover that the 240 v cord also supplies 40 amps at 240 volts.
So I could have just plugged the cord into the 240 volt receptacle with no charger and gotten the same amount of power. Instead, I have a charger plugged into the 240 v receptacle. It was a waste of money buying the charger. In either event, you’ll need a 50 or 60 amp receptacle installed near your car.
Like you, I find my EV amazing. It is my favorite of all the cars I’ve ever had. HOWEVER, it would suck for traveling across country. The range is pathetically low and the charging is a time consuming nuisance. As I don’t ever travel in the car I don’t care about this, but you might.
Also, you should never charge your car more than 80% unless it is an emergency. Fully charging the car degrades the battery, and you’ll have to replace it sooner. Take that into consideration when thinking about range. My cars range is probably only about 240 miles, although they advertise much more. Most of the difference is that last 20% of battery.

We bought one online. Had electrician install in the garage. Electric company had rebate for it too, so they sent someone out to verify that it qualified. Rebate showed up on our next bill. We did have to change our plan, so be aware. Bills never went up that much though.

Just find an electrician to come install it. Cost me $500 and took him about 2 hours.
I bought a Tesla charger and paid $350 for it to be hardwired into my garage in Baton Rouge. Then I moved and my Tesla charger is packed so I bought another charger for $300 and had a dryer outlet installed for $500 in my month to month rental. Been in my rental 6 months and now I’m in the process buying a new house and I was quoted 2k to have one installed in my garage in Spring. Thats not included paying someone to repair the drywall because they have to access the panel in my pantry and run it across the breezeway into the garage.
So I guess it depends on how long the run is and how hard it is to access. I came about a foot off the electrical panel in Baton Rouge and the rental.

Get an Extra Cuck Plug. your gonna need it when you drive thru the rainbow district in a fruitcake vehicle like that.
and btw. Congrats to bowing down to the Fake Movement.
and lastly, maybe get one of those Honda Gas Generators to keep
in the trunk during winter with a portable
heater, it may keep
you alive when you get stranded in the cold

Electric company had rebate for it too
I installed mine myself it’s not hard.
An outlet is 40amps
Hardwired 48 amps.
The 110 outlet will get you 30 miles a day, so as long as you drive less than that, and keep it plugged in, it works pretty good.

Price will also vary greatly depending on what side your breaker panel is on. If your panel is in the garage, expect like $500, if it’s on the complete other side of your house and he has to do a 30-40 foot 6/3 run @ $6-9 a linear foot plus labor, expect like $1,500 - 2,000.
