JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Authorities from multiple agencies are still searching for Pretty Boy Floyd, a convicted killer who escaped from prison Thursday afternoon.

Multiple agencies gathered in Jackson County Thursday through Friday evening after reports that Michael Floyd Wilson was in the area. MDOC Investigator Sean Smith estimates they've received more than 100 tips from people who think they've seen Wilson. Reports are coming from Greene County, George County, Jackson County, and other areas of the coast.

Sheriff Ezell says the search for Wilson is concentrated in the area of Highway 57, just north of Interstate 10. A Chevron gas station there is where Wilson was last seen, said the sheriff. Despite rumors that Wilson has been spotted at various other locations, including D'Iberville and Ocean Springs, there have been no other sightings that authorities have been able to confirm, said the sheriff.

"We've been out there all night looking for him, along with the (U.S.) Marshal service," said Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell. "Overnight, we got a number of sightings where people thought it was him and called it in. Nothing has checked out yet but we are diligently looking for him, concentrating our efforts on the west side of Jackson County since that's where he was last seen."

When asked how he broke out of jail, Smith responded, “All the investigative work so far is that he did this alone.”

Smith said Wilson contacted some family members after his escape, just before 1 p.m. Thursday from South Mississippi Correctional Facility in Leakesville. Family immediately contacted D'Iberville Police after communicating with Wilson.

George County Sheriff Keith Havard told WLOX News that Wilson climbed over a fence at the Greene County jail and cut his arm on razor wire. The escapee was bleeding and his arm was wrapped up with some sort of clothing.

Sheriff Havard said Wilson was then dropped off in Lucedale near the Walmart. He reportedly conned a woman into giving him a ride from Leakesville to Lucedale because he claimed his wife was in the hospital. The woman was not an accomplice, said the sheriff, but rather someone trying to help a stranger in need.

Investigator Smith said Wilson got multiple rides on his way out of Leakesville.

"He has not committed any other crimes," said Smith. "He's just found people being kind, as Mississippians are. Every place, he gets a ride to the next place."

"We know he's trying to find a ride. We believe he’s headed to the coast area," Sheriff Havard.

Sheriff Havard said Wilson was last seen wearing camouflage clothing, and he looks far different than his mug shot. Havard said his hair is now longer and it's curly. He's 47, stands 5'11" tall and weighs 160 pounds.

Officials say they have no reason to believe Wilson is armed, but he should be considered dangerous.

Multiple mug shots have been released by authorities of Wilson, who is also known as "Pretty Boy Floyd." He's serving two consecutive life sentences for the murders of Carmen Dale Edwards and Kenneth Gibson in Biloxi and Gulfport in 2014. Multiple agencies launched a Coast-wide manhunt for Wilson after linking him to the two separate cases. Six days after the first murder, Wilson was arrested in Jackson County after leading police and deputies on a high-speed chase.
