My wife works as a recruiter for DOD contracts and is pretty much exclusive for one of the big 4 contractors.

They just got guidance from their client that no longer could you offer remote work or for that matter hybrid work. This is across all DOD supporting units effective September 6. Also all those currently working Secret and above who are currently working remote, if they are local must be on site for a minimum of 2 days a week

The work from home / remote trend is starting to end. No more slacking in your underwear.

The great WFH experiment is over because some couldn't maintain their productivity level at home.

Only boomers and lazy people projecting their own work ethic on others think you can't work effectively with a hybrid/partially remote schedule. For some jobs, at least.

You'll see this across the economy coming soon as the first round of "soft" layoffs.

There are literally thousands of posts for remote jobs on USAJOBS right now. I find it difficult to believe all non-classified positions will need to be in person...

But I've been told over and over again that people are actually more productive at home.

Someone is lying here...

Good

I've been back for over a year and it pisses me off that others still get to work from home.

The problem was that they did a productivity study on software developers and found that in terms of time to develop it was taking about 17% longer than before this WFH trend.

This is agency dependant. It's not a uniform DOD policy across the board. There are most definitely dod agencies with remote workers full time.

a lot of people will be able to (continue to) work from home permanently, but i don't think folks will be able to bank on it so to speak. the "i'm going to move to a nice house on acreage in a small town/low COL area and work from home" won't be realistic for the VAST majority of people

Hahah so delusional. WFH is here to stay for a lot of companies. You will see resignations when companies start to force in office work. Why these boomer bosses think people want to sit in traffic, breath fumes and spend time away from their families they don’t need to by commuting is beyond me.
