This link says there were 2500 applicants for 180 spots. So what is that admission rate, around 7 percent? 93 or so rejected? Incredible.
There need to be twice as many medical schools in the USA! We need more doctors as the population ages.

There are some exceptional students of color that get into Med School…..but the graph shows that you are far more likely to be a marginal performer and get in, over superior performers, if you are a minority. Medicine should be like the military. Color fricking blind!

Louisiana falls on the left of the bell curve as far as competitiveness and most of the students would be pushed out by folks from Texas, New York and California.
Secondly, you think every medical school in the country should be filled with Asians from Stanford and UC Irvine. You think they have any desire to live in and practice in Louisiana? What happens if we fill all the schools with Indians and Asians from the coasts? You think they are moving to rural Louisiana to practice on your hillbilly arse?

It’s funny being called a racist when trying to deal with a racist system. How do I know, anyone other than a white male, got into med school partly because of their race/gender? I want them to get in because of brains and being the top of the entire application group.
Don’t bullshite me. We have systemic racism alright and it’s been going on for decades. I’m not trusting my health to a possible quota statistic. Only one demographic doesn’t get preferential treatment, white males. Because of that, I can trust their degree more than any other.

White doctors don't choose to practice in predominantly black areas. Especially rural black area. Secondly, black patients want black doctors.
