Employers With Strict Facial Hair Policies

A friend of mine recently started working for a company that has a strict facial hair policy. They must keep a clean shaved face. He says he now shaves every morning, maybe skipping a day here and there. He told me for the first time last week he went 3 days without shaving and that day 3 its noticeable but not yet sloppy looking. His boss called him in during the day and told him that the extra 5 mins of sleep wasn't worth it. Implying my friend decided to use the time it takes to shave, to sleep.
Anyway, does anyone have a personal clean shave policy? I don't like having a completely clean shaved face. It isn't something that holds priority over anything important, but, in general, I am just curious to see how common keeping a clean shave is.

We barely have a clean clothes policy, so the clean shaved face is definitely not a thing here.

We have no clean shave policy. In fact, my boss is growing his facial hair out. I'm in software though, which seems pretty laid back for the most part.

We have a no beards policy for anyone who might have to wear a respirator in the shop, but they can have goatee or facial hair that will not interfere with the seal. Other than that you can look like Phil Robertson and we don't care.

I run an electric razor over my face every morning during the week. We need to be professional looking, which includes a whole host of silly arse rules, but not being clean shaven as long as the facial hair looks presentable. My facial hair is patchy as frick. So I shave

I work for a company like that and it's strictly a mom and pop idea. That's the way they prefer it so that's the way it goes. They will give you some type of safety bullshite babble, but that doesnt hold water because literally every other company locally in this same industry has people with any type of facial hair they want. It's chickenshit and it's controlling, but that's what you have to do if you want to put food on the table. I dont have to work here, I choose to work here.

That's what alot of people claim too. "Our employees should keep a professional appearance." If they really want to push that then they should implement a "No Fat frick" policy, because I can look alot more presentable if I dont shave for a week than a person that is 100 lbs overweight trying to squeeze into a pair of khakis. "He's got a clean shaven face though"...

No written policy but it is pretty much expected. A couple guys have facial hair...but you can't be walking around with a 5:00 shadow. I shave against the grain Mon-Fri.
