There are hospitals willing to pay big bucks to nurses at this point, even those that refuse the shot
OLOL is paying RNs who sign on to work the Covid units up to $120/hr(OT kicks in after 4th day of the work week). Plus $250/week bonus. Unreal what they're making right now. And it's not any more physically stressful than working the other units. They actually "touch" the patients less often.

unless the nurses and administrators are "lying" just to create fear.
I had a doctor in the ER tell me that the ICU was full of reinfected patients. I didn’t have the data to call her a liar outright, but I did tell her that I didn’t believe her.
One more thing Dr. Catherine O’Neal said that natural immunity doesn’t work at all against the variants. So lying isn’t out of the realm of possibility.

No doubt. They have to due to a simple supply issue. It’s an issue that their administration had a hand in creating imho. If you knew you were going to be canned, and you could leave and still make that kind of money (if not more), why wouldn’t you?

What, her saying it? Because that is legit.
That dumb bitch actually stated that publicly.

Has anyone read any science around covid disproportionately affecting overweight kids like it does adults? God knows there are a lot of them too.

Then the hospital administrators decided to lay off many in 2020 when profits were going down due to self imposed moratoriums on voluntary surgical procedures.
There hasn’t been nursing layoffs ever. They have constantly been hiring all through the pandemic

Traveling nurses are in HIGH demand. That is where the big bucks are. Why the hell would they stay in BR when given a dumbass ultimatum. Good for those nurses that bailed.
BR hospitals are hiring travel nurses too, though, and have been during every spike. Most of the nurses who had any interest in taking travel assignments already left their jobs last year and have been making those big bucks ever since. I know several who are actually working “travel assignments” in BR, where they live.
OLOL’s vaccine requirement isn’t the issue, at least not yet. Again, BRG is understaffed and they are not requiring the vaccine. It’s a much larger problem than that, and it’s not a local or even regional issue.
Ultimately the problem is that there aren’t enough local ICU nurses in the areas that are seeing spikes to satisfy the demand, and there aren’t enough travel nurses available to fill the gaps. Meanwhile, the hospital administrators have done a shite job of preparing for the next spike whenever things have died down. Instead of taking those opportunities to staff up and cross train other nurses, they have tried to go back to “normal” and claw back the money they spent on incentives when things were bad. And the cycle repeats.
Like I said previously, that whole industry is broken and I don’t have a lot of sympathy for the hospital administrators. But people are making the OLOL vaccine requirement out to be way more of a factor than it really is. It remains to be seen whether they will even be able to enforce it. Hell, they don’t even know when the actual FDA approval is going to come through.

You are wrong. There have been both layoffs and furloughs in 2020 as a result of the stupid decisions to halt medical services.

Yes but not to the same degree as adults since adults are in worse shape in general. Scroll to the bottom, see the rightmost bars. 46.4% of kids hospitalized have no known other condition, 8.1% of adults. Still, it affects all kids much, much less. Hospitalization is still crazy rare. 3500 in this data set across 32 million in the U.S.

They missed a great opportunity to push getting our society healthy again.
Apparently that is not the objective.

There were nursing shortages years before the pandemic. The is a falsely inflated nursing shortage now that the mandates are in effect.

Are you going to correct your lie? Because it was proven to be a lie.

I missed it. Is he finally going to open things back up 100% now? Did he finally admit masks don’t work?
