I've been seeing lots of fatties, mainly girls, walking around with their emotional support dogs. They bring them to restaurants, bars, to work, even airplanes.... they're everywhere.

Are "emotional support" dogs an excuse to people to bring their pets with them everywhere?
Children need emotional support, adults should have grown up.

I'm of the opinion that this movement can't be trashed and derided enough.

Yes

But it's not just fat girls... it's people of all genders and sizes.

My wife suggested we get an emotional support dog for my daughter while going through a hard time...pre-teen years...so normal hard times. So we got a golden retriever. He's my dog now. Love that damn dog.

My emotional support animal is the smoking monkey from Fun Fair Park. He has used sign language to request some tattoos that have a deep, personal meaning to him. Not trashy

My dogs saved my life. I probably would have offed myself in 2013 if I wasn't worried about who would take care of my dogs.

I saw a person of culture with a pit bull in a service dog harness. It was clearly not trained whatsoever and still had its balls.

99% of the time, yes.

And personally, I don't mind it because I fricking love dogs. They're way more fun to be around than most humans.

Sat next to one on a plane yesterday and petted it the whole flight while we both watched Aquaman and chilled.

Little known fact...these animals aren’t given the same access rights as actual service dogs.

At least in Georgia, legitimate service dogs are allowed the same rights as any person. However, emotional support dogs are not covered by such laws.

I don’t disagree that people abuse the system and use it as an excuse to bring their dog out but

this is just plain dumb. Some adults suffer from emotional distress due to their mental illness

Yeah what a stupid statement.

People definitely abuse the rules, but there are people with autism, severe PTSD, etc. that really rely on emotional support dogs.

It's so losers everywhere can bring their pets with them. My grandparents lived through both World Wars, the Great Depression, and the Dust Bowl. They never needed support animals. 99% of these support animals are pets. Just like 99% of refuge receptacles are trash cans.

This is what happens when you have 50 boards. The one board that is the “Off Topic Lounge” gets diluted.
