This isn't that bad. No different than a herpetologist bringing a bunch of pet snakes, or an entomologist bringing a bunch of spiders to a classroom and letting kids hold them. The alligator seems docile and small enough for this to be a reasonably safe activity.
It's an exciting experience that can provide a different mental challenge - probably just what people stuck in a nursing home need.

alliators have a brain the size of a quarter...they are almost completely driven by instinct. Since the two main instinctual behaviors that I can think of are eating and fricking, I think Ima pass on dealing with a pet alligator.

They, like pythons and other reptiles, are hardwired to kill. It's stupid to treat them like pets. That one may never bite anyone but if it gets big enough it will gulp someone, probably a child.
