Would you prefer the subsidies go to closed plant? Or a productive plant?

And you view this as a bad thing. Would you rather he employ 5k? Is that still too high? 1k? 500? 50? 0?

Tesla's California factory injury rate decreased last year and is 5% better than the average rate for large manufacturers.

Glad you aren't in charge.

Just Google the Tesla heat map. Apparently it is a lot of people buying those cars. This post didn't even have time to age poorly

It’s exactly what happens when you leave these decisions to local authorities. How could anyone even expect consensus or common practical decisions to happen? People are over it!

Not popular on this site but one person could change this and for some damn odd reason, he’s choosing not to. Just simply say ‘the federal government now supports opening back up’.

As someone working in the tech industry in California all I say is this: Tesla is more of a tech company than a car company and good luck to Elon trying to find top notch engineers to work on Autonomous Driving tech in redneck country.

What a pretentious douche

You know there are engineers all over the country that specialize in control systems and automation. I happen to be one of them. Two of my lab mates in Auburn, AL specifically had the skill set of the construction of autonomous vehicles. Back in grad school, in five days after procuring some motor drivers and servos, we took a Barbie Jeep from Walmart and enabled RC control using an Xbox controller, then outfitted it with LIDAR and GPS and made it autonomously move between GPS waypoints as an advertising tool for the engineering department to show off. One of our more successful senior design projects while I was there involves the construction of an autonomous ATV with attached medical gurney/equipment that would follow a person carrying a beacon for the AFRL. These skill sets don’t exist solely within California and it’s insanely arrogant and myopic thing to assume they do.

And even if that weren’t the case, when it comes down to it, engineers will follow the jobs, not the location.

Agreed. Someone should go tell half the city of Huntsville that they're all just uneducated rednecks and aren't "real" engineers since the "real" engineers all work in the silicon valley.

Engineers are nomads. They will go wherever the jobs are.

If the entire tech industry moved to Eunice they would be there in a heartbeat.

Can't blame Musk for his frustration...the elected officials and politicians in Cali don't make sense or show much in the way of logic...

Street Hawk reeks of west coast delusions of grandeur. Think he’s lived there so long he’s probably found he cannot see outside of his little bubble. A trip to a place like Huntsville would definitely do him some good.
