He's full of shite. No way he abandons the billions they've spent on that plant. Place is massive, and most of their production is there.

He can move it. Building an industrial building isn't limited to California. He can build a replica of the building (concrete and steel are cheap) and move the expensive stuff inside the building wherever he wants.

shite, Methanex moved an entire methanol plant halfway around the world. The plant in Geismar used to be in Chile. Now, I don't want you to be mistaken about what I mean. I don't mean they built another just like it. I mean it LITERALLY used to be in Chile. They took their plant in Chile completely apart, shipped it across the ocean to New Orleans, put it on barges and floated it up the river all the way to Geismar, unloaded all the equipment, and then put it back together.

I could easily see Musk doing something like that.

I like businesses moving to Texas but I don’t like liberal Californians moving to Texas.

Elon thinks bigger than that. He's about to move Tesla HQ to the moon.

I think anyone who disregards his threat does so at their own peril.

We're talking about a guy who said he was going to build a rocket that can land on a barge in the middle of the ocean. People laughed at him and goddamned if he didn't do it.

And his board would promptly remove him from his post as CEO. Shareholders would want his head.

ETA: SpaceX is badass. Brilliant guy but not a businessman.

For relocating to a more business friendly state that has a better economy than the one your currently in, would get tax incentives to move HQ there, and a state that you’re already established in?

No, no they would not.

It will be interesting to see what China flu does do state and local incentives.

I feel like the states opening up early and that have economies bouncing back will be likely to have the capacity to keep offering the incentives and credits.

You obviously don’t own a business. If you did, you’d see how idiotic it is to HQ a company there.

Lot of empty space about to be available at Hawthorne airport where Tesla and SpaceX are.

Lorena @LorenaSGonzalez F*ck Elon Musk.

Ha. She's married to a guy from Smackover. He was a republican and married a girl from Texas with family ties to the Bushes. Then when he couldn't get elected to shite, tried the independent route. That didn't work, so he ditch his anglo wife for a liberal, overweight Hispanic Dem politician. Then they siphoned money from her campaign coffers to his to the tune of about $350k helping him win some bullshite county position out spending his opponent by over $350k. She's a real piece of work. He used to be a decent guy and a lifetime GOP'er. I have lost all respect for him. He's insufferable now. I will credit him for not unfriending me on facebook even though I drop in from time to time and shite on some of his posts.

As someone working in the tech industry in California all I say is this: Tesla is more of a tech company than a car company and good luck to Elon trying to find top notch engineers to work on Autonomous Driving tech in redneck country.

Everyone knows that to find the best engineers and tech talent, you have to go to Silicon Valley. It's not an accident that this region has the most amount of VC funding and the highest number of startups compared to any other place anywhere in the world. It's not because the tech elites have some sort of homeless people and sidewalk poop and discarded needle fetish like people on this forum hypothesize.

You think smart liberal Tesla Engineers working on the most difficult cutting edge problems will leave California and follow him to fricking Texas? They will just switch jobs and go work at Apple or Google.
