Who is really in charge?
How much effort would you put into everyone "feeling special" if you were raking in that much money and someone else handled everything it took to get you on TV? Or put it in a way we can all understand. Imagine what you will be able to overlook once you get to the last few years of your career. Maybe she is a count, idk. I also don't care, yet here I am.

No, the staff thing has only come up in the most recent stories. Over the past decade, the story has always been how much of a count Ellen is to the people around her. Throwing the staff in now is just trying to cushion the blow.

I have a friend that worked on her show a decade ago. Everything you’re hearing is absolutely true. You do no speak to her unless being spoken to, you do not look at her unless she acknowledges you. Many PA’s and interns didn’t last a day when she was there. If my friend wasn’t her niece she would not have lasted the two years she was working the show either. She also made everyone who works the show sign a waiver that as long as they’re on the production side of the show, they’re not allowed to be on any form of social media.

Part of Ellen’s schtick now is how she doesn’t do anything “poor”, so it seems like this is her real personality coming out. It’s funny to a degree but apparently she isn’t joking. She says something like “that sounds delicious, can you tell me chef how to make it?”
Fwiw I’ve always thought she was funny but this isn’t surprising either.
