Are you being serious right now? You can easily fire 41 rounds in a minute and a half with a magazine fed semi-auto rifle. You could do it in half that time or less.

Maybe you’re right. Another reason why people, without experience like me or even a background check, shouldn’t be able to buy these types of guns.

With a semi auto rifle you can fire another round as fast as you can move your finger.

We know. My daughters are in 1st and 3rd grade and continue to go through at least 4 code red drills a year. They’re planning ahead for someone to buy a gun and bring it to their school and start shooting.

And??at least there is preparation as oppesed to being caught off guard and not having a plan in place. Same as a fire or tornado drills. Fortune favors the prepared.

Hell my parents practiced drills in grade school b/c the threat of a Nuclear warhead touching down was real..

I know this comes as a shock, but there is evil in the world.

If we're getting anecdotal, I have a graduate and a sophomore who have somehow survived. As horrible as school shootings are it's still an incredibly rare way to die. Try not freaking your kids out over something that is about as statistically likely as winning the lottery.

Gun violence is real, don’t you think?

No one will deny that.

Can we do that with guns?

Do what??

Gun violence has killed hundreds of thousands, if not millions, more than Russian ever did with their nuclear weapons.

Yeah and obesity, cancer ,car accidents
And a laundry list of other things dwarfs any gun violence numbers.

Knee jerk reactions to terrible events won't accomplish anything. The solutions that should be discussed first are hardening these soft target areas. How thats done though no clue.. I have a few ideas, but banning and or restrictions on firearms isnt one of them.

Yes, and fairly certain I can’t get 41 shots off within a minute and half,

Know how you can tell someone who was never in the military nor has ever shot the AR/M4?

Mag change by a proficient shooter takes @ 3 sec. Throw in an extra sec for stress, hell even add another for hitting the bolt release bringing the weapon back to “hot” (able to fire)

Your looking at easily swapping mags in 5 secs. Seeing as how most experienced folks will only load 27-28 in a mag and you are looking at firing @56 rounds downrange , with a mag change, in a hair over one minute....in semi-auto mode.

100 rd mag /cannisters usually have more FTF’s (fail-to-fire/jams) Someone who really wanted to maximize their rounds would tape a second mag upside down to the first so that when empty they merely flip the mags to re-engage in minimal time.

But I guess COD, BO4 doesn’t give that choice...

Are you comparing real life reload times to video games?

Thankfully the 2nd Amendment says otherwise. Laws are based on reason, not emotion. Your argument is pure emotion.

Where are you going to buy a civilian version of the AK without a background check?

The NRA donates peanuts to political campaigns compared to other groups. This is always a fairly silly argument.

I own plenty of guns, and besides the ones passed down, I've had background checks on all of them. I've even been delayed so they can look further into my background (after already buying 5+ guns in the past 15 years and having my CCW permit). This no background check/gun show loophole thing is a fallacy spouted off by politicians and idiots in the media who have no idea what they're talking about.

Another thing that always annoys me is that you all can't ever define "these types of guns", because you know nothing about guns. Other that being scary, loud, and black, what's different that anything else?

Does that even reconcile?

One thing I've noted that's unusual is the El Paso police and EMS audio archives from 9-12 that morning are not available on my Broadcastify subscription.

That's very strange, especially given the initial accounts of multiple shooters given by witnesses and even the police.

The link I posted also has a guy saying they made him delete video he took of the shooter. I'm not sure about the picture but it definitely looks odd.

That's great but the odds your daughters ever encounter a school shooting are astronomically low. Like the opposite of winning the lottery. The media is making this look like an epidemic. It's not. We have 1-3 of these rare occurrences a year.

132,000 schools here. We all know not every shooting is at a school which brings the odds even lower.

Your kids have a much higher chance of dying in a school bus or school traffic than by a gun shot. That's the truth.

This no background check/gun show loophole thing

I always kinda dislike this argument without clarification because there is a "loophole" if you will for peer to peer sales and they certainly go on at gun shows I have been too. While being technically correct and it is unlikely you will buy a gun at a gun show from someone with an FFL not clarifying the P to P sales is a little disingenuous when discussing it with someone that doesn't know the ins and outs of firearm sales.
