I guess they forgot the carrots will also decapitate them and bury there bodies in the desert. Or they'll hang them from overpasses. Or they indiscriminately kill their families.
But yes, go ahead and shake hands with them.

...not sure you quite understand "the carrot and the stick"
but if they choose the stick, all of what you stated is guaranteed

Evidently the cartel was killing people at random until they finally let him go free. That’s crazy shite right there
Posted on 10/18/19 at 8:57 am to Higgysmalls
What's crazy fo me is that all the "updates" to the citizens came from the cartel and not any federal, state, or local government officials. The government and military stayed silent the whole time this thing was going down. Then ended up releasing the dude back to the cartel anyway.
What the frick?
What the frick?

It’s a sign of who really controls the area.
It is nominally Mexico but it is actually Cartelland.

The new president thought his whole reduce conflict, increase social programs approach would work. It’s totally backfired, the cartels are more violent and empowered than ever.

Aren't the Mormons fighting the Cartels and holding them back? The Mexican Army is losing cause they are corrupt.
Posted on 10/18/19 at 9:57 am to Bruco
Honestly, Mexico could use a brutal Dictator-esque leader who indiscriminately captures/kills any/all cartel members and associates, and bombs the shite out of any drug factories.
But that won't happen. They let the cartels get too big.

Some of the military is on cartel payroll, especially in Sinaloa.

Good news is that the El Chapo family's General Counsel, Jose Juis Gonzales Meza is giving a press conference at 2PM this afternoon in the CMDX's Historic Center to publicly thank the Mexican President for freeing Ovidio Guzman.

Mexico, for the most part is safe. Don’t look for drugs or illicit shite in sketchy areas and you will be fine.
Perhaps, but just too many other, safer alternatives. I have an old friend that’s been living in/on Isla Mujeres for 20+ years and loves it. It’s beautiful for sure, but it’s not for me.
