I've always thought that old bastard would live forever, to be honest. But it appears that there is a chance his number may be coming up sooner than later. Godspeed EWE

I think it is interesting to note that he has outlived 4 different governors who took office after his 1st term--Treen, Foster, Roemer, and Blanco. That isnt easy to do. And none of the 4 died at a young age either.

I've met him a few times over the years. Starting as a very young kid.
He was always kind...and oddly...genuine.
Politics aside, he's a kind man. Certainly more so than the other prominent figures back in this area three decades ago.

I agree with that. I oppose his political views but the man is genuine, kind, and one of the smartest people I have ever known. And the poster is right the man refuses to lose control or his inhibitions unless there is a highly frickable blonde in the equation..

He spent a lot of years where he had to be paid if you wanted a state contract. I wonder who he has told where the millions that are left are stowed away. Wife? Sons? Somebody has to know where all that bribe money has sat for all these years.

It is sad that he would more than likely be elected again if he was able to run tomm. He was good at his job, as evident by the remarks of him being "kind" and "genuine". He was nothing more than genuinely corrupt, period! TD complains about corrupt politicians, but for some reason EE gets a pass? He can be mourned and respected in death but also be remembered for what he was, corrupt!

He’s one of those guys that I can’t force myself to dislike, even though I know he’s guilty of a lot of stuff (kind of like OJ). He was a crook, but he got shite done.
