And they signed a petition requesting to be annexed into the city along with a majority of property owners around them. The same with the property owners around the Mall of Louisiana and the casino.

The city had 30 years to incorporate the area but refused.
Technically, legally speaking, the city couldn't incorporate the area because a municipality can't annex an area that would shift the current demographics of the current city. If BR did annex the St. George area it would change/alter the current cities demographics to where minorities would be the minority again. Not legal for obvious reasons.

I was talking to a developer and real estate agent from Ascension Parish. She hopes St. George fails. She said that will automatically mean she will sell more homes.

If the area was truly "Better Together", I'm sure somehow in 30 years they could have found a way to incorporate the entire area amicably.

At some point, people have to pick themselves up. This bullshite that we should all sit in circles and hold hands while the world gets better is garbage. I worked a full time job through college, had to work two jobs after my car totaled, and busted my butt to get myself in the position I'm currently in.

Yeah what great good that has done under Broome. She's a disaster that oddly enough unintentionally helped push this by just generally being terrible at her job and furthering this leftist movement across the country that's created racial tension and entitlement issues. On top of that, the amount of wasted money is unbelievable. We live in a Democracy where people want to control how their tax dollars are spent. Just because people are in a position of power doesn't mean we have to deviate from the original intention of this country: For the people, by the people.

The thing is, StG is not "splitting up the city".
That's a stupid statement. That is exactly what is happening and everybody knows it.

And I think if SG loses, we need to try something else to get an ISD, I’d give up on the city.
Give up on both. If this effort is somewhat thwarted you really think they'd bend on the ISD? Hahaha hell naw. Because if an ISD is formed you can bet they would want to opt out of the EBRPSS tax even if an unincorporated area at some point. It's already going to be a steep task to get the parish vote on an ISD if that ever comes to fruition. If St. George becomes a city you don't necessarily need an ISD. Being from Lake Charles, Sulphur and Moss Bluff don't have ISDs but their schools are A and B rated.
Posted on 10/9/19 at 1:58 pm to Areddishfish
EBRPSS would still be building the new schools and setting attendance zones for the city.
You think Woodlawn would magically become an A school if St George happens and an ISD doesn’t?

I guess it is different here, but in Lake Charles you don't have students being bused to Sulphur and vice versa. You go to the schools in your district that you live by.
Posted on 10/9/19 at 2:02 pm to Areddishfish
That is still the case here for the most part. The kids who are “bussed” either attend the magnet schools or schools that are higher performing than the one in their district.

Theoretically this could happen now if all the parents sending their kids to private school throughout EBR (not just in St. George) decided to send their kids to the local public schools.
An influx of kids with parents that care about their education would be an instant boost to EBRSS. It would also totally overwhelm the facilities, faculty, and staff.

Been talking to one of my friends who recently moved to BR about St. George. All I know about it is from here and he lurks a bit and has been asking about it. He didn't even know he lived in the St. George area until we pulled up a map last night and he's all in on it now.

Considering EBRPSS’s tendency to play loose with districting, I figure they would find a way to zone a lot of St George kids to Belaire, Tara, Broadmoor, etc, instead of Woodlawn so that they could use those kids to bump up the grades for a number of failing schools.
