The corona virus got me thinking. If all of China is shut down on quarantine and people are afraid to leave their houses how long can people pay their bills?

More over if something like that were to happen here how long could Americans go paying on their bills? I could personally pay mine for 3 years if I quit work today but what happens For the rest of America? I have a yard That I can grow vegetables in and pond to draw water.

Most of today’s society in America couldn’t make it a 1 month.

2 weeks without pay and internet would irreparably destroy half the households in this country and implode the major cities. And anyone near a major city without a gun and a strong neighborhood would be killed and looted. Take a look at New Orleans after Katrina. Compare the lives of people in Orleans and those under the protection of Jefferson Parish.

Pay bills with what exactly? If people aren’t going to work then cash or electronic savings won’t mean much. You’ll need tangible items to barter with.

For the big cities it all depends on the truckers and the weather.

If those keep running, we should be ok. Energy/Utility folks and farmers will keep getting paid because duh. then it just kinda trickles down from that.

Other places? Not so much. We are pretty well vertically integrated. Yeah, we might not have 100% of everything but the USA can keep the lights on and the trucks running with shite in them way more by itself than any other country on earth.

There were mortgage companies that were delaying foreclosure suing the height of the downturn. In total collapse it would be that times 10.

I'm pretty sure OP just started this thread to brag about having 3 years of savings

What good would any of that do in a true collapse?
