What are they paying with? Again they are so poor they need government assistance.

They can use those EBT cards to buy live saving essentials like…..

It’s no wonder the poor have an obesity problem. We are subsidizing them to eat Cheetos and Bangs.

Drug money, or the money they got from hawking a bike they stole.

Not at all. Not even during the shut down. But I would have loved $850/week for a year.

I am just sick of people bitching about people on EBT like they are all scammers. When people complain that "people on EBT can get boiled crawfish at Tony's and I have to pay full price."

If you like Tony's STFU. Without EBT...Tony's is just an old Baton Rouge memory like The Hawk's Nest, Fleur-de-lis, and Poccorella's.

Makes sense from Amazon's perspective. They've probably done enough cost/benefit analysis to show that increased volume from 50% discounted Prime memberships is worth the discount long term.

I'm surprised theyre charging for prime at all, with this select group.

Amazon has increased their "trinket" inventory. Its basically an online 5 and dime now.

Amazon blows now. Its basically Kmart with an entrance fee.

They sell tons of stuff made in the US as well as Europe. If you are looking for cheap Chinese stuff you will find it but there are plenty of high-quality products sold on Amazon also.

So the taxpayers have to keep Tony in business.

guess that explains why prime price was increased

Yeah. I'm sure Amazon has subtle price increases on certain products. They'll get that money back one way or another. You don't become a multi gazillion dollar Corporation by giving shite away

And they're probably betting that people with questionable spending habits (not all of course) will sign up for their service.

This is one step that can eliminate food deserts ….i applaud Amazon

Also, why you stressing if you have to pay for this discount- do you also bitch about restaurants giving veterans/military a discount? [ fyi some of our military is on SNAP] or bitch that Walmart pushes their employees to use SNAP so they don’t have to pay more (to be interpreted that we pay to help their employees eat)

I've generally found better pricing elsewhere on quality stuff. I probably don't buy from them but 3-4 times a year.
It used to not be that way.

My wife on the other hand, hasn't gotten the memo. She's hooked on the ease of Amazon shopping.

The vast majority of people on EBT refuse to get off of it. The system is beyond broken to allow for generation after generation of people to abuse and game the system.

Granted, there are people who lack the talent and IQ to make money, but EBT was designed to be a temporary fix to allow for these people to eventually get off Government assistance and provide for themselves.

There is no use to Prime any longer

It was great back in the day for buying TV’s and even smaller things like protein powder because you weren’t charged sales tax. No longer.

I cancelled my subscription

Amazon has received at least $4.7 billion in tax breaks globally during the past 10 years for warehouses, data centers, offices, call centers, and film production projects, according to a new report by a watchdog group and a global labor federation. While the vast majority of these tax breaks—$4.1 billion—are for projects in the United States, the new report tallies, for the first time, subsidies Amazon has received beyond US borders, where Amazon has aggressively built out its Amazon Prime and data center network in recent years.

It was built that way. The system punishes those who try to improve themselves.

its built to trap low income people. There's a sweet spot where you can work minimum hours and maximize benefits. If you work more hours, you get punished.
