I’m so thankful that now the poor people on government assistance will get a discount on their next day deliveries.
I wonder if just somehow I am subsidizing this discount as well as their welfare lifestyle.
Prime is definitely a necessity which needs to go along with those free gubamint cellphones and service.

Prime scraping the bottom of the barrel

If the government subsidizes their Prime sub then yes we should care but this is most likely a discount for those who prove every 12 months that they are on on EBT.

Amazon has been offering this for years. They also offer 50% off membership for students. This isn't news.

Is the government paying Amazon to do this?
Otherwise this a private company making the decision to do so. Just like they reduce membership cost for students with an .edu email.

Are students so poor they are living off the taxpayers? You don’t have enough money to live but you do have enough for a Prime membership?
That’s the problem.

Because you’re further incentivizing people not to get out and better themselves.
Why can’t people understand this shite. It is maddening.

basically they raised prices on everyone else so they arent going to lose in this situation and actually gain more subscribers.

I doubt many people on EBT will pay the $79 for their half priced membership, if gubment isnt paying it.

Is the government paying Amazon to reduce their membership costs for their platform?
If they’re not, it’s the same thing as a discounted student membership. If you’re an Amazon member and that bothers you, you can always cancel your membership.

By offering them discounted free 2 day shipping?
They're still paying for purchases.

Do you think Amazon doesn’t account for these discounts with overall increased price rates and fees?

your taxes are not paying for prime... They get a discount. honestly, brilliant move by Amazon. They are now getting customers that otherwise would not be able to afford their service.
Anyone that is mad at this is just upset by the fact that poor people are getting the same service they are. When in reality, the people complaining are way closer to those on EBT than the ones calling the shots at Amazon.
