Ah yea, Mr Lynn was/is a good man. Used to hang out/work with Amanda and Tony(his daughter) for quite a while at Tony's. Tony ran with our group for a good bit, circa 1999ish. Those were the good ole days. The pool table room left a bit to be desired.

I grew up on Locust Street and my house was on Firethorn and after the flood I sold it and got the hell out of there.
Yea I remember getting information from you during the flood. Place is a shite hole now. Glad you got out. Some of the houses are vacant and dilapidated

Amanda ran with us a good bit, circa 1995ish. I met Tony a few times at their house. Kinda reconnected with Amanda few years back through a girl I was dating but once I quit dating the girl, I quit seeing Amanda around too.

My wife passed by my old house on Firethorn a few months back and the new owner hasn't done shite to the house.

Basically everything east of flannery is gone or going. I've been surprised at Sherwood though. Seems like the flood renovated houses are selling like hot cakes, occasional gunplay aside.

It's shame that area was going down before the flood. Only going to get worse from here. Really some cultra over there. Also some bad hombres. That stretch of rundown apts/condos from past Winn-Dixie to O'neal is a horrible sight. I'm sure a lot of those flooded houses are sitting empty or have been flipped and no telling what's in them.
Grew up in Avalon Subdivision in the 70s & 80s. It breaks my heart to see what this area has become. We were the suburbs back then.

Yeah back then it was a great area to live.
When you see LSU Tangerine do not say it is a bad area. Hype it up to make him think it is a good area, so he can live with some cultcha.
When I left for California this area was nice. When I was moving back from California in the middle 2000's it looked a lot different.
Sad part I patrolled in Compton for a few years. This area pre flood had nicer homes while cultcha worse.

I lived in Riveroaks when I was a kid in the late 70's and 80's. We moved in 91. I recently drove down Fontainebleau and every 4th house or so looks abandoned. Tons of trailers still in yards. I just don't see how it comes back. Very sad.

I left for Cali in 1996 and SHerwood was still nice. Came back South (Atlanta) in 2000 and it was starting to go down that early.

Same here. My family's house was on Bonnie Jean.

I grew up on Gloria. Wasn't ever an affluent neighborhood, but a nice place to grow up. I haven't been down that way in maybe 4-5 years. It had gone to shite back then, and I refused to go by anymore. I heard the area got it bad during the flood, and our old house took on a lot of water. God only knows what it's like now.

That's where I grew up- on Lakemont. It was essentially country land on one side of Old Hammond , and Riveroaks, a solid working class neighborhood on the other . The Cracker Barrel was there when my family moved there in 1973 and The legendary Tony's Donuts was nearby. But there wasn't much else. There was no crime and you could walk anywhere at any time and know virtually every family. Now it looks like a run down dump that's trying to decide if it wants to go Full ghetto or not.

Oh, don't even get me started.
I graduated from Belaire in '84. Every morning my senior year, I'd stop in there on the way to school and get one of those honey buns for breakfast. Bigger than my head, and all of 35 cents. Best donuts and poboys in town, too.

My folks still live off of Fountainbleu... I've been trying to convince them to move for a while, but they're both almost 70 so I don't think that'll happen now. They were one of the few lucky ones in the neighborhood that didn't flood.

My family lived near Old Hammond/Oneal at Torrey Pines. I mean...they lived in a mobile home community so it is what it is. But all the times I visited them it seemed like where they lived at was relatively ok(MUCH better than where they used to live at in NBR). Can only imagine what the place is like now. Couldn't believe all the Mexicans that came through there as we were cleaning out their trailer offering to buy it to renovate. I thought we were gonna have to pay to get it removed out of the park....nope someone paid 4k for it in cash.
My little brother worked at the Winn Dixie at Old Hammond Hwy as a bag boy. I know it flooded pretty bad. He's still trying to find a job out here in AZ and hitting road blocks because he is mentally disabled. Did that Winn Dixie ever reopen?

Once you cross Airline on Old Hammond, it takes about a mile and then you are in a different land. The Latinos over there are not the types to work, but rather act out...let's not forget how close S. Harrell's Ferry is and we all know what infamous complex is on that road.

No, all Winn Dixie's in Louisiana are closing
