Do we know the race of the perp? I haven't seen anything official -- only conjecture.

No, you're probably right. When I was reading about it this morning there were almost no details given. I was trying to recreate in my mind what happened. I don't have any idea what they were doing in there. I'm almost positive it wasn't opened for business. Someone with ownership, or a key to the place, must have been in there?
I thought the deputy was responding to some type of domestic or rape call and assumed maybe it had to do with the place behind. I thought maybe he was investigating and approaching a suspect. But that info seems incorrect.

If that's him we are good sleuths. Are there any crime scene pics with a 2013 Toyota Corolla?

If the amount of downvotes don't show you how sick of them we are then I dont know what to tell you

You're one tough dude. You hung around black people and weren't scared? Wow! And then you even went into a trailer park once? Hoooollleeee sheeeet. I am so impressed.
I didn't mention black people. Culcha comes in all colors. It's just so happens that the problems with culture in BR are predominately from the black communities. Maybe the next time you're so bravely hanging around black people, you can talk to them about why this is. Report back. We're anxiously awaiting.

Sex offenders are not allowed to have Facebook so that is the wrong person you posted.

So why haven't the police released the identity of the suspect? Seems odd it's taking this long.

LSUnurse and someone else said it might be because he is still in the hospital.

BR is a rotting corpse left to the elements. Unfortunately I feel it is past the point of saving. The white flight to Ascension, Livingston, Central, and Zachary have made their mark. Zachary is already going down, and central will not be far behind. Unless St. George happens, and can have enough pull, BR will be the next NewOrleans/Chicago/Detroit and so on,
So what Utopia are you moving to? The moon?

Probably outside the state if I were to take a guess.

That's dumb. He got there by his own actions. It's getting a bit strange they won't say.
ETA: didn't mean it was a dumb theory just dumb if that's a policy or something.

I was thinking maybe the hospital has asked to not publish it to prevent media or other disruption at their facility.

I don't see how being in the hospital has anything to do with why they are not releasing the name, something is going on behind the scenes

Which would make sense not to release the name of the hospital the jackass is in, but has nothing to do with releasing his name

Maybe the suspect in the hospital is not the shooter; and he got away?

I don't know the details but I feel for the family.
I lost a partner in my 3rd year of my career on a domestic violence call.
It is hard to talk to a persons spouse and children after that even to this day.
You keep reliving what went wrong and what you could have done differently.
It is really hard to train for it.
I feel for the officer, his partner, and his family.

Could be a HIPAA thing? You can't just release patients names to the public. Also...considering the situation and the limited amount of hospitals this person could be at....hospital doesn't want his name released to avoid disruption and maintain safety in case some person decides to find this person and shoot him. Police may not officially have him in custody while he is inpatient. They could be waiting until he is medically cleared for discharge to place him in police custody. So that his medical bills are not the responsibility of the police department. Just a guess though.
