Why the hell are the public school busses driving the parochial kids?

Why not? Let the parents get some use out of their tax dollars

This is nothing compared to Orleans Parish schools pre-Katrina

While I do think that there’s something to this, the Diocese currently pays for the bus service, and that comes from the schools collecting tuition.

You sure about that? The state pays for bud service for catholic schools, just like they pay for certain textbooks used by Catholic schools.

What I also couldn’t figure out is how the EBRPSS was going to dictate to the hundreds of Catholic school teachers, staff, and administrators, all of whom work for an entirely different entity, that they were going to have to work on completely different schedules starting in 2 weeks.

Easy. You want them to drive your kids, you play along.

Don’t know much about this, but maybe some of these bureaucrats should strep up and drive.

Do you want kids to die???

LA law allows this.

What time should school start? I'd assume a majority of households have 2 working parents these days. It would be pretty damn inconvenient for school to start at 8:30

You do realize some teachers attend college after teaching all day to supplement their degrees with more advanced degrees Some of those classes start in the afternoon and this schedule would impact those teachers

You people are so entitled. You know what a regular work schedule is?? You work till 5 at least. And those people still can and do go to college at night.

This is so Sad and unnecessary.

I didn't ride a damn school bus until I got to 7th grade.

In elementary school we walked to school and then back home after school.
We had a community.

Bussing is one of the major factors in the destruction of our Republic.

Bussing wastes diesel fuel and requires the purchase of a massive fleet of school busses along with the required maintenance of those cracker boxes. They add to the traffic problem and the tax payer has to pay for the insurance on those things.

sito could end his problem by having neighborhood elementary schools.

I’m sorry, but this line of thinking is racist.

Same. I grew up with walkable neighborhood elementary schools. This was one of the weirdest things when moving to Louisiana (BR specifically), and now it’s a huge mess.

It wasn't always like this. School desegregation and forced busing in the 80s caused this mess.
