We are beginning to be outnumbered in EBR it appears. Though I don't see BREC and COA passing on the next vote.

AGREE! I buy my property and I get to pay taxes on it every year after that for Life! What the FAACK?
And, yes, the burden for all those taxes like library and BREC, etc. is disproportionate for property owners versus renters. Add to it the CATS Tax....everyone needs to pay their fair share for things they use like roads and public transportation / not just property owners!
I want all the improvements from MOVEBR, but gdamnit can EVERYONE PAY FOR IT, instead of just property owners? Add the 1/2 cent to gas tax and call it a day for God's sake?!?!?!
:END RANT:
EDIT - the MOVEBR tax is SALES TAX, not Property Tax, but like previously mentioned we already have the highest Sales Tax in the Nation.....I just think road improvements should be tied to Gas Taxes.

It's only already some of the highest in the country at 11%, stop complaining.
For being a bed rock conservative state, politicians have found a way to fleece residents on tax policy.

The library portion of the bill is absurd.
That being said they offer an absolute ton of free stuff on their website. So if you live in EBR use the library. You're paying out the arse for it.

60 acres of timberland, a residence, a small office building. Total property tax bill less than $1000.00

I thought some of this was SUPPOSED to be for mental health centers or a psychiatric hospital.

I don't know about you but I'm tired of how awful the infrastructure is here. A dedicated tax for road improvements is actually one that I'll vote for.

In Baton Rouge, it's at 9.45%

I actually agreed with the gas tax proposal.

I'm generally of the mindset that I will not vote for another tax. Period.
But....
The sales tax will make all the folks that live outside of the parish but shop and work in EBR pay for the traffic that they contribute to.

I'd rather them cut that school percentage in half and raise the salaries of EMS, BRPD, and BRFD. Baton Rouge gets nothing in return for all the money they pump into schools.

Contrary to popular belief, renters pay that increase too. The property owner isnt going to just eat that cost. Hes gonna pass it off if higher rent rates. No they may not pay that much, but they're still paying it.
I do agree with this.

This is true. Similar to raising the minimum wage, it doesn't just get eaten.

No CATS in St. George?
Damn, 24% to BREC, COA and Libraries. BREC and Libraries could be trimmed big time and COA could be shut down.
