MoveBR's proposed sales tax IS FOR THIRTY YEARS

And the current half cent sales tax that Kip passed for the GL plan runs until 2030 and that plan hasn't been finished yet.

They always say it’s such a small amount for everyone to pay, but if you keep adding up well you get it.

They keep increasing the budgets for COA, Library, etc. They made it sound like how could you not pay for libraries. Their reserves are massive. If they ever lowered some, we might not be against adding more. Not sure that will ever happen

I’m in St Tammany and it certainly isn’t 0.5%. It’s around 1%/yr for a middle class home (~$350-600k)

They tell you how little it is on a 200 K home, but don't tell you a lot of that is exempt and the tax will double what they say on s 325 K home.

Remember the “state troopers taking road tax money” bill that passed to end that practice? The same bill includes the ability for state reps to raise our gas taxes without a vote of the people for the first time ever. Expect gas taxes to rise quickly !

A dedicated tax for road improvements is actually one that I'll vote for.
lol
And how do you know it will stay there, the gambling monies was suppose to be for education. Now it’s in the general fund. I don’t trust any of them.

did you see the lawsuit that was filed recently against the EBR assessor? he simply did not list or tax certain Exxon property. one of the teacher's associations filed the lawsuit because it costs the school system tons of lost taxes every year. i'm friends with one of the lawyers that filed it.

I always laugh at this. Don’t bite the hand that feeds you. Ok, If they lose that lawsuit, which they won’t, they’ll stop contributing the millions they do to the local charities and organizations who rely on their support. They’ll stop expanding in Louisiana and go to other states where they don’t have to deal with the BS like they do here.
