I’m not ignorant about cycling at all.

And now, being the emotional wreck that you are, are trying to somehow say running over kids is okay
quote:.Odd. I’ve never been run over by a road before.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see how riding a bike on a roadway is dangerous
Posted on 7/1/18 at 10:18 am to RougeDawg
I think the actual solution would be to designate a few very specific low traffic roads as cycle- friendly and build some really good long bike lanes/loops in specific areas . The solution is NOT to just pretend you are safe on the roads because the law “ protects “ you. No law protected Buddy.

The point is that enabling the irresponsible and incompetent to driver by exusing their actions is a real and signifanct part of the problem.
But you continue to miss the point by definiing the decision to stay off of a particular road that is dangerous because of irresponsible, incompetent drivers, as somehow excusing them or enabling them to continue.
You bristled earlier when I suggested it was not worth sacrificing yourself for the cause. But how is refusing to "bow down" to deadly drivers going to make shitty driving less acceptable, unless some other responsible, but unfortunate cyclists are injured or killed while exercising their legal rights to ride?

“tyranny of the stupid”
Classic insult response from the tyranny of the bikers. So why can't I walk down travel lanes on the Interstate? Shouldn't I have that right?

You’ve shown you are, you are just too ignorant to know why.
Says the guy who doesn’t understand why going 50 on the interstate while everyone around you is going 70 is not only dangerous, but asking for an accident.

it’s your logic. Why run from it now?
Not running away from anything

Odd. I’ve never had an issue with a cyclist.

You just doubled down. You should stop now.

Kids should be taught that they have the legal right to ride their bikes in the street and that if they get run over, it's not their fault. They need to learn the importance of exercising their rights.
Nah. We should just let people mow through
down.
That's your choice. What's a mangled kid or two in the big picture?

What’s the speed limit on HWY 66?
IMO it should be illegal to ride a bike on a road where the speed limit is greater than 50MPH. Our highways are too narrow to accommodate it

Let me guess....you ain’t a cyclist are ye?
No, I'm a walker. A walker that would like to be able to walk to work on I-10. Just because all the drivers are too irresponsible to avoid me shouldn't take away that right from me.

English?
Look. It’s a chicken or the egg situation.
Does the bad driver create the situation? Or does the situation create the bad driver?
We’re just going to argue around and around. I wish we didn’t have distracted drivers. Life would be so much easier. But we do. And they’re dangerous af. And they’re everywhere.
Until cyclist have their own designated lanes and aren’t forced to share the road with an enemy they have no Chance of winning against, we will continue to have situations like this.
It’s unfortunate. It’s unavoidable. But it’s a known risk. The math simply states as long as there are situations where a cyclist and a vehicle are trying to share the same roadway, there will be accidents. And the cyclist will always lose.
But you’ve somehow taken me pointing this simple fact out, and pointing out WHY it happens as me attacking cyclist. you’ve completely circled the wagons and gone into complete defense mode like I’m trying to say frick you get off muh road when all I’ve done is give the reason why it’s happening.

But see it isn't your right to walk on I10. It's against the law.
You can, however, walk along pretty much any other roadway, just as cyclists have that right also.

No , the Feds designated the interstates specifically for high speed Inter-State travel . But it would be pretty cool to be able to be able to park your car at a trailhead, get on your bike, and ride all day on paths from say Shenandoah to Downtown. Would the taxpayers be willing to pay for that ? Helllllll no. Should they be willing to pay for it ? Hellll no. Too much other shite needs to be done.
Bottom line- South Louisiana does not have a real cycling culture. I would argue it has a distinct ANTI- cycling culture. As such , I suggest running or walking . Or better yet, GTFO, improve your quality of life, and leave S La to perfect the many nuances of Baw/Ghetto culture.

If the anti cyclist crowd was just honest and said, I don't like you because you inconvenience and annoy me, rather than, it's a safety issue, I'd have more respect for then.

Somehow you became the bad guy , lol. My Baw comments aren’t aimed at you, baw- no insult intended. Just keeping it real about our culture. It’s good and bad for various reasons.
