They actively frick over any metro that isn’t New Orleans because New Orleans is seen as the money maker for the rest of the state while they resent having to spend money on BR and elsewhere.

Glad I'm not the only one that noticed.

The Children's Museum thing was insane. And that was just a couple of years ago. Lafayette and Baton Rouge used local public parks/rec funding and a lot of private donations to build very nice but appropriately sized Children's museums in their cities. New Orleans saw that happening and just had the state fund an even bigger one in their City Park.

Children's museums are local amenities. It's not like a major airport or a big highway interchange. It's not even like an NFL team or some other big tourist draw. Why did the state do that when there is a massive backlog of unfunded state infrastructure projects all over the place? Why the hell would a taxpayer in Baton Rouge or Lafayette have to pay for their own Children's museum AND one for the slack asses in New Orleans?

Resurfacing? NICE. They need to widen it between Tiger Bend to Highway 42 in Prairieville too. Two lanes with a center turn minimum, but probably 5 lanes in some places too. I wish the state would get off their asses and do an asphalt overlay of I-12 between Jefferson and O'Neal too. The old concrete pavement is so fricked up right there, especially on the inside lanes. They can do that work at night pretty easily. That pavement is at least 25 years old, and it gets an insane amount of traffic.

Sorry Bud, lol. Wrong part of Jeff. Always forget that “Jefferson Hwy” is so long and segmented. Jeff Hwy@Corporate, “old” Jeff, & Hwy 73 in dutchtown are all the same road.

Anyone with an ounce of foresight should have seen that surface streets needed to be addressed years ago before we cut I-10 down to two lanes for a few years.

They knew. The money just was never there for such projects.

Yeah that section is fricked up too. Wonder if they are doing a asphalt overlay or just repairing the concrete.

Some parts are okay. But most of it is really rough.

Asphalt. Concrete is busted up cause of some additive in it that’s making it crumble. That’s why is busted up the way it is. When I try to explain it I just tell people “it’s like Chinese drywall in your road”

I'd hate to be a politician for several reasons, one is that no matter what you try to get done people will always bitch. I'd be a one termer because I would tell people to go frick themselves.

Yet there are still no plans to widen Florida from Airline to the Amite or Airline from Florida up to 110.
what really would help is to extend harrells ferry raod to 4H club road with a new amite river bridge

EBR has been planning on doing these upgrades for a long time. Waiting til the major interstate project starts to get these going is just par for the course for the Broome administration. Also, LA-30 needs to be 4 lanes with turning lanes from I-10 in Baton Rouge to I-10 in Gonzales, but that’s not going to happen until federal money starts pumping in. The state and 3 parishes aren’t going to do that.

EBR voted to widen 30 to the parish line,
We passed a tax to do do.

Can of them be used to connect the future Ms River Bridge to I-10 when the bridge is finally finished in 2087?

If they don’t four lane Nicholson then frick em. Hundreds of houses coming up and a dinky 2 lane highway for everyone to use. Getting out of my neighborhood in the morning is risking your life, just pulling out in front of someone because you have to eventually go for it. It’s only getting worse.

Actually EBR is setting aside money to widen Airline between Florida and Plank and from Coursey to the Ascension parish line. They even have the layout plans done and are trying to get state and federal matching funds to supplement what they are putting towards it. Airline is a federal highway. It's going to be a very expensive project.

I do think Florida needs to be completely reformatted east of Airline, and there are no plans to do it. I would ditch the service roads and move the primary lanes all the way to the edge of the right of way. And make it 4 lanes in both directions with a huge median for U-turns. And cut out the lights at the smaller intersections like Cora, Marylin, Green Oak, Little John, and Stevendale. If you want to turn left from those streets, hang a right and make a U-turn similar to parts of Vets in New Orleans.

They probably need to widen Florida/190 well into Livingston Parish too. At least to Walker.

Correct. Yet another example of an inept local government trying to correct a long standing issue created by an even more inept state government.

Bluebonnet widening is desperately needed

It does but not that part It needs to be widened going from the Swaggart's to Burbank and then the other way past the interstate overpass to Jefferson.

Followed by studies. Then more hearings and another study. These “improvements” should happen in about 18 years.

If they happen.

Been waiting years for them to extend Jones Creek. Always seemed like there was plenty of space to do that.

They didn’t use the best concrete on the last two projects on 12. Lowest bidder and all.

If they didn’t specify and receive the appropriate concrete someone should be shot.
