Probably on off shoot of the New Madrid Fault. There was a huge earthquake there in 1811 that caused the Miss River to flow backwards and created a lot of new lakes, for one Caddo Lake

I don’t think the New Madrid earthquake had anything to do with Caddo Lake formation.

Although the River did flow backward in said quake, the lake you are looking for is Reelfoot Lake in Tennessee.

Just the biggest thing to happen in El Dorado in the last 150 years!

Holy shite...this is a disturbing trend....there's an earthquake basically every 29 years.

More likely tied to the Ouachita mountains and their thrust faulted history than to the New Madrid complex

Spent some time in el dorado for for work... other than a place that sells potato donuts, there’s nothing there

It ain’t incredible but it ain’t half bad. Heck of a golf course and Murphy Arts district brings some great things to town. Downtown in nice as well. Compared to the rest of South Arkansas it might as well be Dallas.

El Dorado is a nice small town hope everyone is ok. Lived threre for 3 years and would go back if I had the opportunity. Add JJs Barbecue to the list of things to do. Great hunting and fishing opportunities in the general area.

Most likely reason is deep underground war. A while back the NSA was tweeting about tunnels. Army twitter talks about it. Dark to Light

no it didn't.

caddo lake is no where near the Mississippi. caddo was formed when the red river backed up during the log jam the captain shreve later busted apart.

A guy I knew from there got all pissy because I called it El DorAHdo, not El DorAYdo.

He’s probably buried beneath tons of rubble right now. I hope he lives and learns a lesson in humility.
